2006 Acura tl won’t start after removing engine

I removed the engine and replaced head gaskets. Gutted cats and Put engine back in and Engine fired up ran for about 5 minutes, front exhaust was smoking a little I figured from me getting oil and grease on it. Engine died wouldn’t start back up. I let it set an hr or 2 and it would start but ran a little rough. When I reved it up as soon as I let off the throttle it would die. Started 2 more times now won’t start. Cleaned throttle body and held gas down a little. It fired up for 15 seconds and died. Now it won’t even fire at all when cranking. Cranks over gone but won’t hit at all before it was hitting but wouldn’t start. Not showing any codes on scanner. But scanner is a cheap 1. Thanks for any help.

So a bit more troubleshooting is needed. Do you have spark? Do you have fuel?

It’s getting fuel for sure. Was getting fire. Haven’t checked since last time it fell on its face. It’s got to be a sensor but I can’t pin point it.

Check the timing of the crank to both cams, might've jumped a tooth or two

Well, engines need 4 things; air, fuel, spark and compression. Which one don't you have?

key to the crank came out. That’s why it’s not firing right. Hopefully valves are ok. Didn’t hear any ticking the couple times I tried to crank it. Going to put key in and go from there. Timing should be good since cranks only thing spinning but I’ll check it and go from there. Man I hope I didn’t screw valves up.

That's a mighty bold assumption

If ANY valves were open while the crank was spinning and those pistons kissed those valves.......... they're toast. But fingers crossed for you

somehow motor starts and runs. Maybe just the slightest tick at best but really hard to hear anything out of the ordinary. It’s a dirt track car so we going to race it and see what happens
