2006 with 2008 Bumper Headlight issues

I just purchased a rebuilt 2006 Acura TL a few days ago. I had noticed some condensation in the right headlight but figured I may could apply some type sealant later and deal with it later as well. Well last night I noticed both lights on the right side went out. When I looked further into this I noticed that the inside lights have also melted the metal ring around the light inside the assembly on both sides. And further that my right bright light will come on if I turn on the fog lights. I am having some confusion trying to determine what lights I supposed to replace them with because it appears the ones now are too hot for housing. However the Bumper they had placed is a 2008 bumper with fog lights separate on lower bumper, that they left empty and didn't install.

Are the foglight in the 2006 supposed to be in main headlight assembly ? What would you guys recommend to start getting this straight?

Im guessing they placed the 2008 headlight assembly in when they placed the 2008 bumper.

The pre-"facelift" 3G tl had the fogs incorporated into the headlights (which is the weirdest shit ever to me) and the "facelift" model had fogs incorporated into the bumper. Like you said, it looks like they put 2006 headlights on a 2008 bumper. You could just get some fogs and wire them to the fog on/off wires and either have 4 fogs or remove the connector to the headlight fogs and have just normal fogs.

Sounds like they did some poor wiring hackjob and potentially used bad quality bulbs which led to the melting.. take them apart and take some pictures.

those headlight is for a 07-08 model. The fog is sitting in a DRL housing.

Fix or Replace Headlight Assembly?

Is it possible or worth trying to repair the internal damage of my Headlight assembly?

If not I'm thinking I will try to go back to the 2006 headlights, I'm guessing they will still fit with the 2008 bumper..??

Or would an option be to install halos? Would that possibly replace some of the damaged parts?

you can find shrouds and such to repair the internal damage but you have two main options:

1. 2004-2006 headlights with fogs in the headlamp

2. Use your or new 207-2008 headlights and install the fog lamps in the lower bumper.

The big issue is the inner bezel on the 2007 lights arent made to withstand high heat. In your situation I would just get some projectors retrofitted where the DRL melted on both lights and get the fogs put lower and have a quad HID headlight setup.
