2005 TL, Shock / Strut Replacement

Hi Guys, I have a 05 TL w/ 112k miles. never touched the shocks / struts. The car is not riding very good anymore. What is the best fix for this. I priced out complete new shock & spring strut at dealer, very expensive. They don't look very hard to get out of the car. Thinking maybe harbor Freight spring compressor and buying replacement shocks and re-use OEM spring. I don't want to change ride height and did like the way the original OEM rode when newer. I saw some reviews of say Monroe replacements and they were not good. What is you guys expert thoughts ??

I would be very surprised if the issue was your shocks and struts; they should easily be good for 200,000+ miles. Instead, have your suspension looked at in detail; bushings and such are more likely the issue.

You can get new shocks w/o springs for around $120 a piece at acurapartsforless.com for oem. Koni oranges don't look like a bad deal either at $80-$90 a piece.

Here's a good video on what to look for as far as suspension problems go, also compliance bushings are a known failure point on these cars.

Hi Guys, finally circling back on this. I used acuraoemparts.com and bought the new exact whole oem assembly for each corner. They were way cheaper than my North Haven, Ct Acura dealer (even with the discount they give from buying the car there), acuraoemparts.com had the exact same part numbers my dealer quoted me . I had a good friends garage (South St Auto, W Hartford) install them (i tried to do it myself but was to much on jack stands in my garage for me). Anyways, the car rides like brand new now, the shocks needed changing for a while. Nice and tight, no noises, this was definitely what was needed. I figured the whole assembly changes all the bushings in the strut and fairly easy to just unbolt and reblot back in. Thanks to the $1200.00 stimulus it was a free upgrade. The car is back to being really fun to drive again. What a great car !! Thanks
