I have an 04 TL. Yesterday I was parked outside of the grocery store and it wouldnt start. Everything inside turned on fine and all the lights worked, but the engine wouldnt even turn. Not even a crank or anything. I tried after 30 minutes or so again and it turned on fine. This is the first time this happened.

I took it to the dealer the next day and they are saying they have to clean out my entire fuel system and replace my fuell injectors and stuff. Saying it will cost $1800.

Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be and why so much.

Did the starter not turn the engine at all? If so that indicates a starter/battery/ignition switch problem. Did the dealer say why they believe the injectors are bad?

 

The engine did not turn at all, then randomly it finally turned on. The dealer is saying dirt or something may be clogged up the fuel injectors and got into the fuel system.

 

Well, if the engine didn't turn over, it can't be the fuel system.
Clean the battery connections and the next time it happens, if it does, turn on the lights and try and start to see if the lights dim or flicker, then go from there. If they go almost out, battery problem, if no change, no juice getting to starter.

 

I had a AAA guy come out and help me with the car. He checked the battery and all the connections, everything there was fine. Lights dont flicker and everything inside the car works.

I turn the key all the way and i hear maybe a slight click and thats all. No engine turning or cranking. It's been turning on ok since then. 1800 seems pretty steep for somethign that "might" be the problem.
