2004 TL surges

When my car sits in the garage overnight,I pull it out in the morning and stop to click garage door opener. Still in gear with my foot on the brake the car will surge foward.

^do you usually warm it up before you pull out or do you just start it and throw it in reverse ? if its cold and its idiling high this could cause that.

^^^ im pretty sure no car should lurch forward while foot is firmly pressed on the brakes while its in gear cold idle or not. Even so the TL does not have a very high cold idle...and its not like its even cold outside it is still september ya know ;-)
Also, cars do not need to be warmed up they are designed to be started and put in gear immediately so again, thats not part of the problem.

Give us more details...like are you backing out...so in reverse it does this? I have no clue what could possibly be causing the car to jolt regardless of what gear your in, whether the engine is cold or not, or if its winter or summer outside. You got me!!
Wish I could help more.

I forgot about that good call! Since its a 2004 its probably got some miles and I have read on this forum these sensors do tend to take a crapper eventually. Any chance you have a engine light on? I have read of instances where the app sensor was not bad enough to trigger a code so even if you dont its still a possibilty. The sensors isnt too expensive and its an easy swap.

your TL seems anxious about something.

FYI, TL has 104k on it, It happens in all seasons not just in cold weather. Always in the morning on a cold start.I always back the car into garage, car is in drive with foot on brake long enough to click the garage door opener close when I clear. As a matter a fact, the check engine light just came on this morning on the way to work too! Go figure! On the way back home from work it was still on and and maybe 5 minutes on the road I noticed the check engine light wasn't on anymore?

My 04 used to surge at a constant rate of speed, but not at a stop.
I changed my APP sensor and surging went away. Hope this helps.
