Hello, i have a 04 TL. Just replaced timing belt/water pump, thermostat, oil pump, and spark plugs. Drove great for 2 days and then i noticed the headlight was out so i went to replace it. I was waiting on a part to come in the mail and so i was going to pull the car up the driveway and as i went to move it the car cranked but would not start. Any ideas on things i need to check or fuses/relays to check. I would assume its probably not the timing due to it running great for 2 days. Also my obd reader is not working not as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
Can you hear the fuel pump priming?
Have someone else turn the key to the II position (right before cranking) while you stick your head inside the trunk, and you should hear a humming/whining noise.
Also, you said it's cranking, but is it cranking normally, or slower than usual?
Engines need 4 things to run; air, fuel, spark, and compression.
Air, you can almost guarantee it's getting.
Compression, if it was just running a couple days ago, that should be fine.
Fuel, start with the above.
Spark, pull a coil and a plug, place the tip of the plug somewhere close to metal while someone else cranks the engine, and look for spark.
So I got the car started. It was the ecu fuse but after placing it in the car would not start because it kept blowing fuses. So I know the reason for it not starting is the ecu fuse. What is causing the fuse to keep blowing? The fuel pump works. I am just seeking information on why I keep blowing fuses. I believe the 2 relays are good under the steering wheel on the left hand side. Thank you
So i have narrowed it down to the crankshaft sensor. I believe when i did the timing belt i didnt put the wires behind the tensioner and they were pinched. The car will not pop a fuse if the connection for the crank sensor is disconnected but once you plug it in it blows the fuse instantly. I am replacing the wires for the crank sensor. Is there a way to test the crank sensor before i buy a new one? i believe it is still good i just need new wire harness.
Also i noticed there was a wire fraying right below the intake maniford. One wire was just red and on the other connection the wire was blue/red. I had no idea what these wires were for. Any help would be great. Thanks
