1st gear start

when i drive from a stop, my car bogs like HELL, like its starting in 2nd gear, once it reaches like 2500rpms it pulls like hell. it does it both in auto, and manual mode.

this just started happening about a week ago, and im clueless

08 tl-s 5at

mods: aem v2, underdrive pulley, pre cat deletes, atlp j pipe, race pipe, greddy evo2.

im possibly thinking a dirty filter, or simply just the heat

My tls sometimes is very sluggish at low rpm, I mean pedal to the floor in 2nd gear and I'm struggling to get to 3000 rpm, once past that it wakes up. This happened twice now since I own it 16k miles... Dunno what is causing this.

Also my old CL-S was an auto, and at 50k miles or so it got a bad throttle positioning sensor so it sometimes did start from 2nd gear and after that it would hold gears till 5-6k rpm, and no I wasn't in manual mode. That was actually reproduced at the dealer, and the throttle position sensor was replaced and never had that issue after.

Could be heat. My car has gotten sluggish the past few weeks too.

Could try to reset the ECU by disconnecting the NEG battery terminal for ~15 mins.

Welcome to my world. I put the pedal to the floor just to stay even with traffic and when the rpms get to 3,000 or so where it starts to pull of I back off. It's so bad that I've been manually shifting so I don't have to give it so much gas and keep the rpms at 3K or more. Gas mileage is horrible. I've averaging 13mpg. Going to run it on half 100 octane for now on. It should pay for itself in this situation.

Your TL doesn't like Bakersfield? 13 MPG is almost spark plug missing bad. I have been mixing 100-110 octane, 5 gal to a tank, expensive but seems to help.

That's a weird issue... It's been near 100 or above here in Houston w/ high humidity for over a month straight & my 04/5AT never misses a beat.

I've been on half 109 unleaded and half 91 for nearly two weeks. Mileage went from 13 to 17+. Did a water decarbonization so hopefully it runs well after the high test is out.

Same with my other TL (an '05 automatic - the wife's). It does just fine and has been averaging 25 MPG for her normal work commute and other driving. She doesn't drive in heavy traffic to and from work, there are are still lights, stops signs, traffic, and changing speed limits. Plus she uses the A/C in the summer months all the time. Her car really pulls quite nicely.

We have been having an unusually cool summer (drives the global warming believers nuts) down here with temps running in the mid to upper 80's. Today, it's supposed to hit 98 and tomorrow 99. Those temps are closer to what we generally get this time of year with rather high humidity. I love it.
