'08 TL underbody rust, pic included

Went through week-length snow twice in last 3 years in TX and have had the car since new for 3 years. This is definitely not normal and I do spray the under body down with hose regularly to keep them clean, maybe too much washing? What are my options? Thanks.

I'm in DFW area pretty far away from water. I'm just curious if there's anything I can do to eliminate the current rust and prevent future rust. Thanks

I read about that in other rust threads. Average costs around 100-150 I think. I'm curious if the Acura dealer does it or not...

Truly, I don't think this is out of the normal for rust conditions. I know it probably does look bad, but since it's so isolated to the knuckle, is it out of the question to just remove it, sand it down and paint it?

My car is an 05 and since new it has been "living" less than 20 miles from the gulf and there is zero rust underneath my car. If it's a northern car that deals with salt on the road and such, I would agree that this is less than normal rusting. That under body coating is a good idea, IMO.

That is just surface rusting on some major pieces of steel. My TL has never seen snow but my Pilot has. I have some rusting like that on my TL, the Pilot is a obviously has a lot more but nothing on thin metal that is eating through (it's 8 years old w/115,000 mi). Up here in Vermont, we see several types of road chemicals in the winter.

Underbody coating has it's own demon's. Depending on the application/applicator, there have been many cases where it has trapped moisture and cause more problems than it created. With today's factory painting, it hasn't been much of an issue. I don't know about today, but in the old days, it was so thick and messy, it made working on the car a pain in the ass.

I personally wouldn't worry about it.

Exactly ... I live in snow country and we don't even worry about a little underbody surface rust like that... Don't fret it ... its very normal.

Doesn't look too bad. You can always try some WD-40 if you are worried about it.
