'08 TL-S mechanical inspection done...with issues.
hey all, so I decided to get my TL-s inspected at an independent mechanics shop... the TL-S has 125000 km which is about 77670 miles. So the mech found the following 'issues':
1. minor engine oil leak. although nothing is dropping onto my garage floor, he says its from some sort of gasket and slowly accumulating on the pan. some sort of seal has worn out. If this was the case, the pan is hot..wouldn't i smell this oil?
2. the rear wheels have alot of 'play' meaning the bearings will need replacement soon. he did mention this seems unusual considering the mileage isnt too high.
3. brakes down to 20% - i will replace brembos myself.
So..just curious if anyone has ran into the above 2 'issues'...i was thinking of going for a 2nd opinion.. but looking for input from all of you.
the car has never been lowered, stock suspension, no aftermarket parts added.

I have that same oil leak now, 93k miles. I believe it's the engine oil pump seal.

i think i have the same leak, i put in a quart over the length of an oil interval. is that about what you guys are putting in? i'm at 93,000 miles
i also don't have any oil on my parking spot. is it worth a fix or do you guys just top off?

I've yet to see any puddles or drips of oil, even after overnight parking, but you can see the leak when you look at the oil pan. I'm guessing it only leaks when you push the engine hard. My amount of leakage (lol) is directly proportionate to how much WOT vtec fun I have, literally from nearly no leak when driving normally for ~2k-3k miles to a full quart every 500-1000 miles of spirited driving. I'm guessing the seal lets go above a certain oil pressure point. Once you shut the car off there's no leak, hence you see nothing on the ground.
Saving up to get it fixed now, it's not cheap, the oil pan needs to come off.

Idk this sort of thing I'd just replace when it breaks but that's just me, you can take the preventative maintenance approach too...just wouldn't want to waste money you know what I mean. I'm not sure the timing belt service would help reduce the cost by much?
