08 Main Computer failure

My much loved 08 TL w/Nav is at the dealer and probably will be for a few days. Here is the deal.

The night before last I allowed my brother in law to drive it 2.7 miles each way to the CVS. Apparently on his way back there was a loud "clunk" and the "check starting system" MID light came on. He drove the car home with it shifting hard all the way. My husband drove it and said it needed to go to the dealer.

Next morning I leave to go to work and the car is fine, no errors, lights, tranny shifting fine.

Today, I leave to go to work and every light on the dash comes on and stays on, the "D" was flashing, I had an engine code P0155 on the Nav screen, the car unwillingly goes from a stopped position, and when it finally gets going it shifts hard, mostly from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3, upshift or downshift. BTW, I don't use the manual shift.

I drive right to the dealer. I leave the car running so they see all the lights and errors and they turn the car off. They wanted to drive the car but they couldn't start it once it was shut off.

Car stays because master mechanic has no idea whats wrong. He says the codes in the computer aren't showing any major issues. I get a crappy Nissian rental because they are out of loaners.

Tonight, the dealer calls to tell me they need a few more days. They replaced an O2 sensor, ECU, a couple of relays, and they want to replace the main computer which they ordered and should arrive Monday.

Its still under warranty but it only has 13k miles on it, has anyone else had this issue or heard of it? This was my first "new" car and starting to think I made a bad choice.

Thanks!

Well if there is a major electronic component failing, then a DTC may not necessarily be stored properly or a false DTC will set so diagnosis would be more difficult. Often if a failure cannot be duplicated easily then pinpointing the problem becomes very difficult.

He said the codes that were stored were crazy codes. He rattled off a couple of system but I didn't catch them all.

Have you heard of the computer failing at 14k miles?

Sure anythings possible. I have had a bunch of computers go do to water getting in them from a clogged A/C drain. I would need more info to make a diagnosis though. What other drivability issues did it have?

Update

Leaves collected in the evaporator drain was clogged with leaves and that caused water to flood the computer and short it out.

Lesson learned i will clean the leaves off the car everyday in the fall.

this is bull$hit you have an ac filter. have you ever taken it to a lube place. they sometimes put drian bolts in the drain tube so they don't get ac water on them. or some one f-up something.
