I知 pretty sure it痴 the coil packs. Happened to me a few months ago when I was at a local drive in theater when my car began to vibrate and the headlights would dim. I thought it might致e been the battery but a brother in-law who is a mechanic told me to check the coil packs that it might be a misfire. The dude was right and so I had to replace coil pack 2, 3, 5, and 6.

Yeah sounds about right. Since I did all of my packs the cars been running good. Only time will tell

Hey guys, I've yet to scan for stored codes but does anyone have experience dealing with this issue? I was in 3rd gear doing a pull at wide open throttle, once approaching redline my CEL started flashing. I try going to fourth gear, 5th, and 6th and I was locked out. I slowed the car to a stop in neutral and the CEL disappeared. I put the car in gear and continued driving with no issues or lights. I recently has a misfire issue and solved it my changing coil packs along with plugs. I've heard that a cold air intake can cause the A/F ratios to be off and trigger this but I'm not sure.

so your theory is since I didn稚 use OEM packs, they are causing this? Because the misfire issue is gone, what I知 experiencing now is only WOT in high revs.

Ehh he had 4 threads about a misfire and I was going to let it slide at first but I've since just merged it altogether..

Ah, I hadn't connected the dots that far back yet that this was the same car.

So, it seems it has always had some misfire issues. The coil replacement "helped" but didn't completely resolve it. So this leaves a couple of possibilities on the table.
- replace the coils with OEM coils
- test for other culprits that were previously mentioned (valves, bad cats?)

Thanks for the replies. Sorry about the threads, barely know how to use this $hit. I would致e bought denso/hitachi if I had known but by the time the post was made I had already purchased the coil packs from someone who works in wholesale therefore I couldn稚 return them. I will try replacing the cat as I already have a brand new one that came with the car when I bought it.

Update: CEL came on for P0430, while still having random misfires only at rev limiter while WOT. Installed RV6 V3 J-Pipe and Primary cat deletes and car is running better than ever. Initial misfire issues were due to at least one dead coil pack (aftermarket are working fine), and clogged cats caused random misfire at rev limiter while WOT as well as P0430. No more engine light or misfires.
