07-08 mirror fitment problem on 05

anybody that has done the swap to the 04-06 years, do you have a gap at the top of the new mirror? i have a gap, and after tightening down the bolts, there is a pretty large gap still.. The original mirros have no gap at the top, i thought it was a direct fit? i had to unscrew the 3 bolts that were on the old mirror and place them on the 07 mirror. The new mirrors didn't come with any bolts. so i figured that had to be done

I have a much smaller gap than that like a mm ...what I did was take the bolts out of the old mirrors cut them to length to match the type s mirror hole length ( maybe a lil shorter but a good enough length to hold em on there)...and installed em with no isses

did you run a wire through the wire loom for the blinker? because i popped that open and there is no hole there, just 2 plugs covering the hole

lol ok heres a lil trick.... pull out the harness from the door side and out of the speaker hole.....its a lil tricky but take ur time to look at it and how its removed and itll come out fast.....look at the rubber loom and look where it clips in for stability to the harness plug (2male end clips).....those holes go in pretty deep and you can drill either one of them out in a corner with a dremel or drill...i prefer a dremel if u use a drill use a small enough bit so u dont damage the plastic....then run the wire through the hole to the loom....then take a wire hanger open it up bend one of the ends down and put the wire on the end of it...then slowly push the hanger through the loom and ur done....slip it through the hole on the car side and have fun finishing up the other door.

what did you run the wire to? the rear or the front? and what color is the wire you tapped into? what is the easiest?

my 2006 TL from Canada has the same bolts for the 07+ mirrors. I didn't have to cut anything, everything was plug and play.
fitment were good too, not a huge gap like yours, maybe just move around it and push it in more, make sure the bolts are secured.

ran the wires to the front signals, way easier than rears.

i tapped directly to the turn signal circuit. ur going to look for a blue/red and white cable i believe on the white plug of the wire harness plugged into the fuse box either way test those 2 cables when you find them and it'll give u a positive reading when the turn signal clicks. if u wanna go to the back of the car u can... i see a slight delay in light when people do that so i dont do that...id rather have a hard 10 mins to tie a line into another line and save time ripping up panels and fishing cable.

took care of the gap, went out and bought a set of bolts to fit the stock housing. moved stuff around a little, and it fit, ran the wires to the front signals and success. Wasn't hard, just a PITA

Quick question, EVOLICARUS... I am going to try to replace my side mirror lens since it got broken, but haven't found much help on how to take the mirror off to get to the guts. Is the only way to take the door panel off? If so, any hints on how to do that?

Thanks in advance.

^^yes, take the door panel off, its easy.. there are 2 screws behind the door latch to open the door, and the bumper stop on the edge of the door, and one screw under the armrest. and then you just want to pull at the edges of the door slowly, then you hear pop pop and pull up slowly and out a little, not to much, just enough to see all the plugs so you can unplug them, it shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes for a first time doing it.

just be extra careful wiht the door latch cable....if u pull it too much or bend it and it snaps u cant open the door....and the piece is a bitch to replace.
