'06 won't start

Hi guys,

So basically my car wont start. For about the past month sometimes it would start with one turn of the key and sometimes it would take three. Yesterday I tried and it wouldn't start.

What happens is when i turn the key all the way to the right it sounds like it is not even turning. The battery is fairly new and I had it fully recharged because I thought the battery was the issue.

Everything else works. Radio, displays on dash, power windows, trunk. I even just tried to start it with a jump and still did not start. I also put it into neutral and tried to start and nothing happened.

What do you guys think? Maybe the starter? Is that a common issue? My car currently has 87k miles.

Thanks for any help.

If the lights stay bright when you try and start the car, I'd look at the starter.
Normally, once the starter acts up, it doesn't last a long time before it becomes inoperable.

Just picked up our '06 TL from the dealer where we had some work done. We had it towed as it wouldn't start last week and we had the same as you're describing Calimurse (wouldn't turn over with the dash and radio still functioning).

They replaced the starter and did some other maintenance work and the car starts like a charm! We currently have 196,000 km (122,500 miles) on ours.

Hope this helps.

It does. Mechanic hit the starter and my car was able to start right after. I know DIY is pretty easy but if he is a cheap mechanic i might just do that. i dont have the tools.

Change the starter right away and you don't have to worry about it.

It's the starter I had the same symptoms and replaced my starter last week.

It's a easy DIY only took me an hour, save labour and buy a OEM starter.
