''06 navigation problems after car rear-ended

My '06 TL was rear-ended a couple weeks ago, and I got it back from the shop yesterday. The car looks good as new, but as soon as I turned the car on, I got an error message on the navigation screen, something about "no disc being inserted or navigation door not closed." It was working fine after the crash and before I took it to the shop. The DVD is still inside, the door is closed, and the shop claims they never touched it. I've opened and closed the door, ejected the DVD and reinserted it, and still nothing.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Does some kind of reset need to be done? I'd rather not take it to a dealer if I don't have to.

take out the battery and leave the car alone for about 30 minutes. Plug back in and put in Navi and Radio Anti-theft codes. If that doesn't work, you navi unit is messed up. Cost to replace, 2000 dollars.

If csmeance's suggestion does not resolve the problem, bring it back to the body shop and notify the insurer that paid for the repairs so it can pick up the tab. The body shop will either repair the navi or subcontract it out (possibly to a dealer).

Whatever you do, the insurer should pay the tab. If the insurer is the insurer for the other driver, just let it know you will sue the driver for the amount to complete the repairs if it does not pay to completely repair your car.

Thanks for the advice. I tried removing the battery, putting it back in and then entering the security codes, but that didn't work. I've contacted the insurance company and am waiting to hear back from them.
