05 tl VIBRATION, ANY FIXES??

I Have An 05' Tl That Has Had This Vibration Since I Bought The Car. After Seeing This Forum And Taking The Car Into The Dealer, I Was Under The Assumption That There Was No True Fix. Has This Changed?? I Have Michelins On My Car And The Vibration Seems To Be There When The Car Is Cold, But Goes Away After 5 Or 10 Miles.

Anyone Out There Have A Successful Fix?

sounds like tires flat-spotting. Change tires might help (it did for me) but might not get rid of it completely.

Does it vibrate when the car is moving or just when you first start up the car and still in parking ? What did the dealer tell you of the problem?

definitely sounds like flatspotting. Try increasing the front tire pressures from 32 Psi to 34-35 Psi. If it resolves the problem, make sure you rotate the tires every 4-5K miles.

It vibrates only when moving, the dealer told me basically that they have no fix for it. I think he had seen this so many times he automatically assumed not to even bother with it.

Just had my 05 in for the 3rd time for vibration and they replaced all the el42's and added that dampener under the car. They said the tires where out of round. Vibration is gone, hopefully for good.

They left the glue form the old wheel weights on the rims and I had to remove it myself.

Do you feel the vibration comes from the engine or through the steering wheel? Like the other said, try to increase the tires pressure to narrow down the problem.

I had similar problems in my 05 but it was when the car was in 5th gear and accelerating under 2500 rpms. I recently traded for an 06 and noticed they changed the shift points in the new car where the engine is less likely to drop in 5th at lower rpm's.

I also had Michelins on the 05 as well as the 06. The old car put off vibes at lower speeds as well when the tires were cold but the new car does not. I think it's all related to dampening in the engine and the gear ratios on the 04's and 05's.

Is there a TSB for changing the shift points in the 04/05s? I also notice this vibration in my '05.

I kinda doubt it, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Maybe a ECU flash would do this...?

The reason I doubt it is because on the 05, the gas pedal felt really heavy and a bit hard to push. The 06, the pedal is light and the car seems to take off quicker. The 05 also had a nice little treat for you when you slowed to a rolling stop and then gave it gas again... she rewarded you with a nice ugly jerk. This doesn't happen in the 06 so I tend to think they changed gearing as well as did something to the fuel delivery system that made it better.

I have no scientific reasoning to back my comments up. They are just experiences behind the wheel...

Also, don't let the dealer tell you it's tires because it's not. I tried Bridgestones, Michelin's and aftermarket Dunlops on my 05 and nothing helped. Granted, the Bridgestones were the worst...

Seriously...check your wheels. I think they are weak. I had developed a vibration this winter...brought it in 2x to teh dealer. Then I went to my tire guy and my back wheel was oval. I just put on my good custom wheels and the vibration is gone.

I feel the vibration more so in the seat than the steering wheel.

I feel and hear it through the dash and center console. This is not a tire problem. Car is perfectly smooth at any RPM other than almost exactly 1500.
