'05 TL powersteering pump problem...

Red face '05 TL powersteering pump problem...

05" tl 114k
problem:
When i crank the car powersteering fluid gushes out bubbling from resvoir
recebtly had pwrstrnin pump replaced shop says its normal to get air out new pump i call bluff. Anyone lend any insight.

replace the o ring. there are a few threads on it if you search for them. either that or there is an air leak somewhere. Check yer hoses too.

Did you go with an OEM unit or aftermarket?

I went with Amsoil.

Well just dropped car off at shop.. mechanic. Stuck on air coming in some where... causing to gush.. he says cant b orings cuz id have a leak sumwherehe gonna flush it.. an see if he can locate problem fingers crossed..

Anyone in Houston or know good Houston Acura tl tech

Sorry, but I think he's just plain wrong on this point.

Look at the vid in the linked thread. Same as you describe, fixed with replacement o-ring.

Now perhaps the o-rings/seals are not the problem, but it seems to me you do the most likely thing first - the thing that has been shown to cause the problem and is relativley easy and cheap to fix.

It IS the o-ring. Daddy, do what Bearcat suggests - start with the simplest, cheapest fix first. You will find he's right - a tiny, inexpensive o-ring will cure your woes.
