'05 6MT transmission
Hey everyone-
Bought my 05 6MT this past September. Had the 3rd gear TSB done in December and haven't had any more issues with that thanks to the service department at Norris Acura in MD. I'm also using the GM (now AC Delco) friction modified fluid. Here's my issue. About half the time I get the smooth and buttery shifts but the other half there still seems to be some notchiness all around (not just 3rd gear), particularly while not trying to accelerate quickly - shifting between 2500-3000 rpm.
Is this a common thing even with the friction modified fluid? Just a characteristic of the transmission? Or what. Any info would be great. Thanks!

seems to be characteristic imo. There's some mechanical resistance occasionally, the best way around it is to make deliberate shifts.
Not forcing anything, but when getting into gear, dont hesitate or slowly get it in the gate. Pause shortly in neutral if you need.
This resistance gets better as the transmission warms up. This can take a while, even after the Temp gauge gets to operating temp. 2nd gear can be resistant when it's cold, so can 6th.

Transmissions are held in gear by the shift forks. The shift forks have 3 little indents on the rod and are held in place by a spring and metal ball. When you shift, the rod moves and the ball moves up and down in the indents. Something similiar to how it works is your door catch rod.
