04 tl blowing ALOT of white smoke help
i have a 6spd 3g tl with 76,xxx miles on it and its shooting alot of white smoke at both idleing and accelerating. the valvetrain sounds more noiser as well more clicking sounds like that honda lifters sound the car is less responsive as well more lag. im trying to narrow it down could it be rings, valve seals it doesnt smell like coolant it smells like burnt oil .please give me some idea on wat it could be i thinks its time for a build
how is the oil level- full or under or overfilled? color and smell? any brown foamy stuff on dipstick?
and the radiator- remove cap cold- level full and no funny foam or color
res bottle for radiator- full cold max?, rubber tube attached inside res cap and sits in fluid?
from there we can narrow the failure ---- but stop driving it until dianosed

we seem to have a consensus on this diagnosis, white smoke= head gasket(s)
But lets backtrack a month- how has the temp guage been- any higher than normal? even a tick higher than normal?
Done any high rpm abusive type driving?
oil changd and never low?
car meets `severe service` description and still on original waterpump?

the danger in running any engine in this condition is water/coolant does not compress like gasoline- any leak from a break in the head gasket allows transfer of internal pressures to places not made for that, like back into the radiator and blow its seam seals
Too much compression and a small tear is now a large failure- but once the head gasket was damaged in any way- its mandatory replacement
You dont want to keep driving it because its also ruining spark plugs and possibly adding water to the oil- diluting and ruining it when its really needed to make up lost cooling abilty
Use a mechanics mirror on a stick to look under water pump for leak trail from its weep hole, the place where coolant leaks out if wp seal goes bad
Strangely- this may be covered under your car insurance comprehensive if the engine blows up

I wonder if the 6 speed guys are running the rpm to redline so much that its wearing the wp out early?
Have seen similar parts failures on track race cars made from street cars- the alternator and ps pump are not made to run flat out so much and bearings fail.
might be same thing with wp on these cars of ours

First, if it is water, the level will surely drop in the cooling system. If the water is stable, you can always do a compression test, or a pressure test on each cylinder to find what might be leaking, depending on where the air is escaping.
as to the temp guage is the same how its always been yea i drive it hard but im going to change the oil to see how it looks but wat about the valve seals that would cause smoke as well i dont know why 77,000 car is like that
Normally oil smoke, once the car is warm, is not noticeable because of the converter(s). On one of our car, modified, not Acura, on start up you'll notice smoke, but once the converter gets up to temp, no more smoke.
Valve stem oil seals if bad will certainly cause the exhaust to smoke, especially on a cold start as the oil has drained through the head and is waiting to be mixed with the fuel and spent out the back.
Does the oil level drop abnormally quick?

well to give u an idea i topped off the oil last night which is 5w20 fully synthetic since about 53,000 miles but any way this morning i turned it on on let it warm up shut it down i checked the oil and it was low coolant was good oil didnt have coolant either should get ready for a build or trade my car in for a g35 because on top of that i still have to fix my second gear problem i think it might end up costing me too much money even though i love the car it wont be the same to me keep in mind my car has never overheatedsince i had it but i think its the rings for some reason i also drive hard but not that hard
