I have an 04 TL and recently swapped my engine with an 05 TL engine because of previous owner overheated the engine. Long story short what happened was i put the engine in and it was working great. About a week ago i noticed that my car was speeding up right. A guy talked to me about resetting my ECU and i tried that and found out my VTEC was not working and when i reset my ECU it worked. Now I have a problem at around 5300 rpm's. The problem is that is when i speed up and hit that rpm range it feel like my VTEC stops because it doesnt speed up fast at that rpm like it should. When i first did the swap I ran it nice and easy and gradually pushed it little by little and one day I took it out to the highway and i hit 140 like nothing and now with the problem occcuring I can barely hit 120. and when i do it speeds up 1mph every like 3 seconds its so slow and my mechanic cannot figure out why? any ideas

how did the mechanic do the ecu reset?

 

I reset the edu by the key way not by unplugging ur battery

 

how good is the new motor? did you check the valves?
