Unhappy '04 Passenger AUTO window issue

I recently bought an 04 TL, and the seller told me the passenger window AUTO switch was messed up, and he showed me what he was talking about before I bought it. He hit the button AUTO up and down a few times to get the window to roll all the way up. He said the switch was $25 on ebay. One person here said the window needed to be reprogrammed. I looked in the owner's manual, and I didn't see anything about reprogramming the windows in this scenario.

When I hit AUTO down on the window, it goes all the way down, but when I hit AUTO up, it goes all the way up then goes halfway down. When I hit AUTO down and then manually roll all the way up, it will only roll up 98% of the way, leaving about an inch to go. I can manually pull up over the next few minutes, and it will BARELY go up a little more. I eventually have to get out of the car and pull the window up with my hands.

Is this an easy fix, or am I fucked?

There is a sensor which detects if something is in the way and prevents the window from closing so you don't squish your fingers. This is just a guess, but is it possible that there is some kind of dirt or spider web or something there triggering that sensor?

I tried to roll the window all the way down and hold the button for a couple seconds, then rolled it all the way up to hold it for a couple seconds........BUT, the window wouldn't roll all the way up!!! Only about half way!! I had to pull the window up with my hands while my dad pulled the switch up. WTF, this is seriously annoying

have you tried cleaning and lubricating the window channels? Sometimes debris can hinder the window motor from going up properly.

no... but I'm pretty sure it's an electrical issue. auto up doesn't work.

i have the same issue with both windows. i can auto down, but when i auto it, it will go up about 60% and roll back down to 40% - 50%. so i have to roll the window up with just the first detent.

ill try the 2 second trick tomorrow morning.

I got quoted at $250 for replacement.. but I believe I can do this myself..

is this the right part for the 2004 TL passenger window regulator? Does the motor come with this? It's the entire assembly, correct?
