The White Rocket

I've had my 04' TL since June, but I'm new to the Group. This is my first Acura. I was surfing the Net and fell into this awesome site. Lots of great info, stuff that you would normally never find out about. It’s great to have more info that most dealers! Thanks

You must live in a stone/bug free environment. Must be nice!
I’d gladly remove it if I had that too!!
Thanks

Jerky,
One of our fellow members has found the clear bra is not up to the flying stone protection. It 's just a heavy duty clear coat, one has to question if it will dis-color over time compare to the rest of the car. But then the standard bra will surely do that also.

I have a 86 Maxima, and the grill/hood/bumper are bugged, scratched, and stone!!
Live and Learn!!

Thanks

Nice car, just like mine including mud guards and body side moldings, but without the bra (Florida clean place so luckily don't need, except during love bug season).

What's with the black mirrors? Did you paint them, or is there a bra for mirrors too?

Ron A,
Very observant, no paint. Yes another bra, or mirror covers better yet, made from the same material. After looking at the my 19yr old summer car, and looking at what had take the most abuse over time it was the bumper, hood, and the mirrors. So after laying down the big bucks, I’m looking for long term protect of the high speed open road.

It’s funny, no one seems to care for the bra for this car. Oh well! That’s what makes us all different!

Personally the Bra is a bit fugly for my tastes, but I do understand the need. I took my last car up to some decent speeds so often that I had alot of pitting in the paint job on the front end. So many little rock chips and crap really adds up over the year.

NBP is the best, but WDP is a close second especially with the bodykit and proper/good tinting (don't tell anybody, but I think the WDP with a body kit may actually look slicker than NBP). That being said... the bra kills the looks.

Seems the consensus is no one likes the bra. But it's functional, you're protecting your paint, and it makes the car look different. I say keep it!

Hmmmm.... Somebody fill me in on this. What's the point of protecting the paint if it will always be hidden under a bra?

It's for when you sell the car. The new owner gets to enjoy the nice clean paint job even though you don't.

Do yourself a favor and remove that bra and invest in the 3M Clear Bra to protect your vehicle. You can't go wrong with that. Protect your car and no nasty pleather all over the car. Not only that, you'll end up scratching your paint more with that kind of bra. Trust me, I've had both and the 3M clear bra wins hands down. Nice car though. Kinda reminds me of the lone ranger with the mask

Well I guess it's a good thing, that the people that don't like the bra didn't invest money into it! If you all want to chip in, to pay for me to remove the bra, pay for a clear one, and to pay when I get the big ass stone chips and bugs removed from the front car then it will come off! lol!!!!!

Until then , the Zorro will Masted!! lol!!!!!!!

And innocent people will continue to be saved!!!

But Thanks to all for your Input!!!!

It's your car and I'm glad (even after all of the negative comments) you chose to keep it the way it is.

Everyone will be Happy to know I took the BRA off the car.
But before you all smile to BIG, it's because the car is off the road for the winter months and it's in a carpeted garage with the cover on.
Call me Anal, but what can I say!!!!

But come Spring, Zorro - will once again put on his mask for the running season, protecting itself from the evil that lurks on the roadways!!

Lokius, thanks for the input, and may your white rocket run safe from road disease for as long as you own it!!

Happy Holidays To ALL

Black Bra

Hi Whiteowl... Just some FYI. You might want to get rid of the bra. I just purchased my 05 Diamond White TL and also got the bra. However, within time you are going to have problems with the paint fading, possible Mildew. You don't want that bro. I am currently in the process of getting a CLEAR BRA myself. That is the way to go. No offense. Check out www.xpel.com. Good Luck and if you are paying over $600 that is too much.

cscantu0302 thanks for the input, but considering the way I use the car that's not an issue. This is a Sunday or Nice Day - High Speed Cruiser. The car doesn't go to work, does go to the mall, and doesn’t go to the restaurants.
I refuse to get door dings from the inconsiderate!!!!

If by chance it gets caught in the rain (unlikely) the bra comes off the car when it comes home, cleaned and dried before it's next run. Most the trips consist going from my garage to my parent’s garage with a NYS Thruway trip in between, or some nice curvy back roads going through the gears. What a ride!!!!

If I drove the car on a daily basis, and it sat in the sun all day long, and it got rained on and dried without attention, the Bra would not work. Maybe some 10yrs down the road when the car becomes the old car and I have a 2014 TLZ or something like that, then things will change.

Again thanks for the input, it beats the standard reply - it looks like crap and you should take it off!!!

Zorro Rides!!

The problem with this kind of bra it's that you have to be carefull of humidity and durt that can come between the bra and metal, it will cause a quick rust.
You must leave it during all the life of the car because you will notice a difference in color.

And in my opinion it doesn't look good particulary on a white car. But it's a personnal taste

It's remind me like my grandparents used to keep a plastic transparent sheet on some furniture like a sofa to keep it new for a long time. I think life is too short and you should profit of what you buy.

Why don't you put a wool blanket on yout leather seats to avoid the sun and your butt to put some scratch ?

Why don' t you put caps over your mags to avoid scratch ?

Why don't you let your car in your garage ?

Car are made to take some risks on the road (rocks, chips, accident are a part of the game)

sebounet2005,
Not bad, you have two out of three.

The Car does spend most of its life in a garage!
I do have matching colored towels that covers bases of the seats!

Where can I get some of these wheel caps your talking about, and does it keep the brake dust off the wheels and the car!!! LOL!!!!
Sorry, Brake dust is a constant battle!!!

As for the Risk, I try to keep them to a minimum!!!
Long Term Survival is the game.

Agreed no matter how hard you try, something always seem to get you at some point in your life!

Isn't Life a Challenge!!!!

Happy Holidays!!!
