White plastidip
White plastidip
looking to see if there are any posts of a TL that has used white plastidip on car details (grill, trim, etc). i know there are many posts with black grills, wheels, minor details, but i didn't find anything where white plastidip was used.
not sure if i want to do anything like this, but was curious to see how it turns out on components for a WDP

yea trying to stay away from the ricer look, but i think some may turn out well such as front license plate frame (my spray painted one is chipping), the silver grill trim on the hood, and others.
it would be nice to know if anyone tried this or has seen pics of it

yea that's the toughest part...so many shades of white, especially with the pearl in the WDP
just bought some white plasti dip, will try it out on my front license plate frame and see how it turns out (currently high heat white but it chipped). will post pics this week if i get around to trying it out

Just tried the white plastidip on my car - Anthricite 04. The problem with it is that is gets... marked up pretty easily. I think it looks ok, maybe a little ricey, im still having second thoughts about it. The black plastidip on the taillights turned out good I though, it was a bitch to tape them and get the rounded parts right.

Its really easy, provided you have a few coats on there. Otherwise, they break off really easily, really hard to get it off in one piece. And it's a pretty bright white. Taping up took forever, overspray isnt too big of an issue because it comes off, but still lol. If I keep the while, i might do the whole license plate surround. Im still thinking whether it looks overly cheap or not lol.
It's a lot easier to peel when you have more coats on it. The thinner it is, the easier it rips so it takes forever ripping it off in little pieces. Just apply several thick layers and it'll peel off nicely. I did my rims in black awhile back and peeling the ones where I layered it thick was so much easier than one that I did light coats on. Also if you spray light coats it looks kinda textured instead of being smooth.
And I do know that - I made sure to only do 2 thin coats so the turn signal does shine through when it's engaged.
I washed my car weekly, so it rarely got noticably dirty. I did go two weeks without a detail and the white plastidip did begin to darken. Because I did 2 coats, I was able to take car wash soap and a detailing brush to the wheels without causing it to peel. The dirt came off.
my first 2 pics was from the first week when I installed the wheels after plastidipping them. The last 2 pics were about a month after. I live down a dirt patch road, long city miles, so my wheels get dirty easily and hence the weekly details.

I ended up selling the car before I had time to apply gloss/clear coat and I offered the buyer that I'll gloss/clear coat the wheels but he peeled off the plastidip and had plans to spray paint them black.
The white is? lol I've been thinking about taking it off. I did want more of a contrast with the emblem, but the white's not really doing it for me too much. Im guessing that doing the whole license plate part in white to match except for the reverse lights of course would be bad too? Its hard to picture until it's done lol.

Not bad. I think it's gonna be a bitch to clean though haha. Let me know how the brake dust works with it. Oh and did you do your lugs too it look like? That's gonna come off the second you try to take off the wheels lol

I agree with justn, this looks horrible...good thing it peels off easily. I do think you did a good job with the prep work and props for trying something different but yea I am not feeling it. If you like it though that's all that matters man.
