Few more pics...
My driver side headlight was very hazy and the passenger one was like brand new, looks like it was straight from factory still, I had the hazy one polished/cleaned yesterday.
Perfect one
One that was cleaned
Spacer on my S10, my dad made it out of a solid block of aluminum, it's about the width of a soda can
My cat, don't judge me, it's my thread

Guys, I've been in the headlight game for a few months now. Did a few with the crystal view product I bought at walmart and realized that for $20, all you were really getting was a packet of this chemical plastic sealant. Everything else was stuff I already own or could buy for cheap and do with a machine rather than by hand.
SO, went to walmart and found this product called "Plastic Sealant" made by Blue Magic in the headlight restoration area. It is not just a wax type product like the megs etc. in that it reacts to the plastic and forms a barrier to sun damage etc. As guinea pigs, I did it for 2 coworkers for $20 each yesterday and was super happy with the results.
My process:
wetsand 1000 grit (most important step, keep sanding and changing the water in your bowl until yellow is gone)
wetsand 2000 grit
Now here, I was overkill but I compounded with my makita rotary and wool pad at level 3 with megs 105 cut.
Then I polished with the lambskin pad and megs 205.
then applied the blue magic stuff.
Sorry to post a DIY in your thread but figured since the question popped up.

The key is just start with finer grit sandpaper then you want to and put some time into it. The other key is to "seal" it or clear coat it. 3M makes good UV protective clear coats.

I'm taking mine apart, again, this weekend because when I first did I accidentally left some scratches on the inside of the lense. So I'm going to polish both the inside and the outside. Not fun stuff. 3rd time I've done this now. Lol

He did the usual sanding and stuff I guess but he's had a sealer of his own made, seems like good stuff. Sorry Swoosh, if I knew exactly what it was I'd tell you but it's his own product so...

Swoosh, give that plastic sealant I mentioned a try...it's $6.86 for a bottle of it.
Maharaj, I had to wipe down the inside lense once too...it's SO tricky to figure out what's ok and what needs attention and of course it only shows up once it's back on the car!

I was a retard when I first did them I got permatex on the inside of the lenses. And like a dumb ass started cleaning the inside of the lenses with a scotch brite. So it's pretty scratched up on the inside.
I'm scared to do it this time tho because last time I broke both of the silver strip things. I mended them with that cheap chrome tape stuff. It looks perfect, you can't even tell, but I know they are fragile and I'm not sure how much baking abuse they can take. Lol

SWOOSH! THANK YOU!
How long is he doing it for? I just bought my rims and had to make a car payment and then I'll have to buy the tires, then probably coilovers! I can only do so much at a time! When I go to order all the stuff I'm going to need a discount!

Thank you sir!
Maharaj...I feel you, man. I messed up with mine too...the chrome strip I used hot glue on the back side to hold in place and it melted down in the inside of the reflector.
I didn't mar up the inside lense TOO badly but it sucks cause it's so small it's hard to fit any polishing pad in there to clean then up. I also noticed if you go too heavy on your butyl sealant, it fogs up when heated and will make a film inside the lense. Not too noticeable, but something to watch out for. I also pressed in the inside of the lense before the outside once, that made so that when it was hot out the outside would start separating. Annoying...Meh...I hate doing headlights, I'm super happy mine are holding up well now. I have a backup set of clears for any major surgery...but still.

Hmm, maybe I'll be okay, all the stuff I want is $444.75.
Smoked tails, clear diffusers, aluminum petals, Type-S side markers, and the chromirror bulbs.
The swoosh200 code takes off $31.13, bringing it down to $413.62.

Edit: You know, now that I've been active the past two weeks on this side of the forum I see that it's usually the same 6-8 people posting all day. You guys want a chat room or irc channel? I can have that up in 5 minutes. Lol
