and, you'll appreciate your good rubber on the 18's a lot more with coils too. It'll be a badass set of upgrades in terms of driver feel.

I understand it looks better but I don't get lowering the car and then wheels...it makes more sense (to me) to put the wheels on, then lower it to spec...

OR, I could wait a bit longer and order all of it at once, and dedicate an entire day to mounting it all. How long does it take to install coilovers?

like 5 hours to get your stocks out, 30 to put the coils on. 30 to get them even.

you get wheels once low because thats how you know what specs of wheels you need.

plus, your car will drive 100000% better doing it in that order.

Depends on how mechanically inclined you are, what tools you have and if you have anyone to help. Takes me 3-4 hours doing it alone with hand tools. It'll take you longer because you have to disassemble your stock shock assembly so you can put the top hats on the Teins.

Well I don't plan on slamming it. I want like 1 or 2 fingers to fit in between the fender and tire. I plan on going with 18x8.5 on a 235/40/18. Yes, yes, I know I should go to 35 instead but I can't justify spending the money I am on the rims and then having so low of a profile tire that I risk bending the rim. And I don't want to roll/pull fenders. It'll all fit right?

I came from an S10 and my dad ordered all the stuff for rims/tires. I decided to lower it on a 2/3 drop which in reality could have gone lower but would have been more $$.

Ebelp - I have my dad to help, providing he can take the time to do it, if not I'll take it to a shop to do it.

look, this was my last car's height, and I needed to roll the fronts. 1.5 fingers in front, and about 2.5 in back.

which is why I'm suggesting you get the suspension first. You NEVER know how low you truly want to go until you've had them a month, especially for the shocks to settle

Actually..as a rule
45 series for 17's
40 for 18
35 for 19.

I take about 4 hours from start to finish including swapping over tophats and adjusting height.

18x8 et 48, with a 15mm spacer since they discontinued the et35 wheel. so final of et33, 'standard' for that car was 18x8.5 with a et35

I'm just saying, if you go with your rideheight adjustment first, you'll have less headaches, and more fun!

If its a deal you're shooting for, then by all means tell us to shut the fuck up

Yep, run a 235/40/18. That's what I have on my 18x8.5 A-Specs.

Even if you max out your coils, you'll have PLENTY of room between the wheel and fender. Once you start messing with spacers is when you need to be worried.

Thanks J! Just depends on if my dad has time to help, he runs his own business and works alone so he's either slam packed with work or no work, just depends.

What do you mean getting a deal? Like price wise? And I would never tell you guys to STFU lol

I won't ever max out the coils, too low for my tastes but the rims will be ordered and made to my specs so spacers won't be an issue. I'm thinking of going with an offset of 35 so it will sit flush with the fenders. (+35 on an 8.5" rim will be flush, yes?)

yes, I was starting to think you were getting the wheels and tires from a classified, hence wanting to pull the trigger on those first

Tyler, are you lowered at all? Do you have rolled/pulled fenders?

And just so we're all buddies and on first name basis, my name is Austin.

Bish look at my pictures, yes the car is lowered

My rear fenders are rolled with a 20mm spacer, front is stock with a 15mm spacer.

Well how hard is it to roll fenders? And TBH I don't even know what rolling is, I just know it requires cutting.

Rolling and cutting are two different things. When you roll, you're bending the lip of the fender up so instead of it being an "L" shape, it becomes a "V" shape. Feel the inside of your rear fenders and you'll know what I mean. You need a fender rolling tool and a heat gun to do it the right way without f'ing up your fender/paint.

No, get it professionally done...it costs 100 bucks and if you care about fitment and flushness...it's a must.

Just kidding...Bi, a guy on the forums under the name "Nitrous" had a guy do it at the Honda dealership he works at. Boynton Beach, i think.

Hmm...being that I work for my family at the car lot I'll see if I can get a shop we use to do it. Thanks though, if they want to much or don't know how I'm hitting you up for directions.

Also, Nexson (Brian with the 4G) just got his done...you can ask him too.
It should be no more than $25 per corner, or 100 bucks for all 4 to be rolled. IMO, you get that done first so you KNOW you have as much room as you need to work. With that done, and natural camber (pre camber kit, in case you don't get them) you can probably rock a +25 front and +15 rear...or something very close assuming you don't get some fat azz tires.

I can rotate mine...but I have to use spacers...lol...
20MM rear type 2's and then 2 10MM type 1's to achieve +35 front and +25 rear at all times. I agree..unless it's a HUGE difference in offset, no need to have staggered!

I have nipples, can you milk me, Greg?

something about how i started writing that response reminded me of that line from the movie, although in rereading it...it's pretty unrelated.

VERY unrelated

So my order to lowering and wheel success is...
1. Roll fenders
2. Lower car
3. Rims and tires
?

This is going to be so much more $ than I thought.

Lower it.
Get your rims
Roll it if you need to.

I politely disagree...

If I were doing it all over again, I would have STARTED with lowering, then get a roll (preemptive)...getting the camber to where I can live with it, or just leave the natural camber. THEN measure how much space I have left and THEN decide what kind of offset I can now fit in there without issue.

If I were redoing things, I'd have gotten the XC8's in a 10 or 20MM more aggressive offset to rock a LITTLE more concavity...

Drop, roll, wheels. That's what I did.

Btw search on local forums for people who roll fenders. I had both of my rear fenders done for $30

Thanks guys. I think I'll end up ordering the shit and then just waiting until I have the time to do it all in one day. I'll set the height to my heart's desire and then if I need rolling done I'll just raise it and then find a shop to do it as quick as possible. I know the specs of the rim and tire and it will fit, I've asked a few people and it's nearly stock. 1" bigger rim and 5mm thinner tire. Hopefully rubbing won't be an issue at all, it's only .5" wider rim. I just don't want to do anything irreversible. I plan on keeping the car forever hopefully, as long as it's good to me. If I ever run into a crazy high paying job then I'll throw some sexy TE37's on it in like 19x9 that's probably a different lifetime though

If you like the TE's, but don't want to spend big money, check out the Rota Grids...BUT you have to get them in the rare +20 offset so there's some concavity and flushness. I usually hate Rotas, but they did a nice job on that specific wheel.

Or Varstoen, no?
Why don't you just lower the car and wait to have the money to get the wheels you TRULY love??!!

Plus, I'm recommending rolling first because:
If you stay on this forum you WILL end up wanting to have the rims be more and more flush. This way, right from the start you can buy the wheels you want in an offset that fits WITH A ROLL. Rather than have to achieve what you're looking for with spacers.

I saw the Rota's but I'd prefer to stay away from them. The Volk TE37 is a super sexy wheel and I'd rather have the build quality and rather "exclusivity". For now, I'm getting rims I truly do love, they're double what my dad paid for the rims on my S10 so I'm having to save, trust me, if I had the money everything would have been ordered in a heartbeat. I've seen the rims on another member's car but he was staggered and on 19's.

As far as spacers go the company builds the rims to the specs I want. If I went with a 30 or 35 offset they could make the rim that way. I don't want anything over (or below...?) an offset of 30. I'd still need to roll the fenders?

Depends on how wide the wheels are, what tires you have and how much you're dropped. I'd roll the fenders regardless just to be safe.

It'll probably end up that way, I'll see when the time comes. If it rubs after I install it I'll drive to the body shop and have them do it lol.

On a side note...real CF kit from Carid.com looks sexy as hell. Gonna want that soon...but first is rims and stuff. Then I move to head/tail/side marker lights and then interior. And make car payments in between! lol

I don't know if I've told you guys on here or not but my theme is black (since I have NBP), silver/grey/carbon fiber and blue. I'd really love to paint the silver projector ring in the headlight like J has done but I'll feel like a copy cat.
