Thanks guys.


It was a pretty nice day out so I took a couple of pics the digital camera. Don't know how to use it, but I think they turned out nicely.

I also created a Flickr account so hopefully the picture quality will be better.






Even after getting my fenders rolled, I still rub a little bit in the rear. Guess I need to run some camber?

Yeah, add a little camber to the rear to help with rubbing. Get a narrower tire when the time comes

I have 245's on the back so I'll probably put the 235 on the back and then put 225's on the front.


I've got a set of Ingalls camber kits I need to get out on. Went to a shop and they wanted 285 plus 70 for an alignment to get them put on. Hell no.

I'm not a huge fan of stretched tires either but I don't think a 225 on an 8.5" rim will be tooo bad. I will say I got pretty lucky with how the rims and tires fit. Juuuust flush enough to look nice without running insane camber.

Anybody installed their own camber kits? Trying to decide if it's something that's doable.....

Ingalls? It's easy but inner bolts are pain in the ass.
I have to orner new bolts and tackle it. I still didn't order

Damn that looks easy enough that Austin could do it.


But to tuck tire I'd have to get coilovers, and an exhaust is further up on the list.

That's still going to be a while though I'm pretty much done with the big stuff and am sticking to small stuff for now; headlights, tails, black roof, flames.

Was wondering if anyone would catch the flames part.


And thanks everybody. I don't really know what's next. I'd like to black out my headlights and do something with my tails too but just don't have the motivation to actually do it. I also plan on painting the wheels gunmetal. Gunmetal was my first choice but they were sold out and wouldn't have any in for 3 months so I settled with matte black.


My next big mod will be XLR8 quads followed by coils, but those will be wayyy down the road unless some pop up in the BM.

I always thought it was the other way around?


I'm pretty happy with how it sits. I think I have about half a finger gap all around.

Almost forgot about about the roof spoiler. I want to go ahead and get it but I'm still undecided about painting my roof black so I guess I should make my mind up about that before get a roof spoiler.

I feel like if you go with the black roof you should get a black roof spoiler, that is if you decide to get one.

That's why I'm waiting. If I do do the black roof, I'm definitely getting a black roof spoiler so it'll all flow. But I still can't decide if I want to get the roof done in black. I had it on my other SSM TL and it looked sharp but as time went on I kind of wished the roof was silver again. Decisions, decisions.

Need some help everyone.

I went to start my car today and when I did, my VSA light and CEL were both on and my D light was flashing. I also had a message on my Navi screen for a P0974 code. The message on the Navi screen says "Reverse gear may not operate."

It's an 08 with 99,985 miles on it. We bought it with 57k miles and haven't had any issues with the transmission in the 42k miles we've put on it. I actually drove 200 miles back to school without issue last night but, like I said, this morning when I went to turn the car on all this started.

Is there any way to determine if it's just a bad sensor or if it actually the transmission that's going out? I'm hoping it's just a sensor that I can pick up at Advanced Auto and fix it myself. I know the 04-06 TL's had transmission issues but thought that I had read that they used the RL transmission in the 07-08 TL's to help with those problems.


Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: When I searched all I saw that came up was for the 04-06 TL's and nothing for the 07-08's?

Not fun to hear. I'm no help, but I hope you get it worked out, and don't need a new tranny. I too thought the Type S had a beefier trans.

Paperboy had trans issues on his Type S, maybe search his thread about it?

I wouldn't rule out the year.

It's essentially the same car.

^Hopefully its just a sensor acting up...


The ingalls kit is really easy to install, and I mean REALLY easy (30 minute job). I would DIY them and then just get an alignment afterwards. And the tech can adjust the camber to your liking once on the rack

the rear kit? i wouldn't call that a 30 minute job especially if the camber bolts are seized in place.

Guess I lucked up I jacked the rear of the car up, removed rear wheels, and unbolted the oem arms and swapped each side( I adjusted the ingalls arms as close to OEM lenght as possible before installing them). tightened them up and put wheels back on the car.

Even removing them was cake when I reinstalled my oem arms. Having ratcheting wrenches helps too

Thanks for the info about Paperboy. I'll search for his thread and see if his issue was similar to mine. I really hope this is not a huge expense to get fixed. We budgeted for the timing belt service but not for this on top of that too.

I think the camber kit is the least of my worries right now.
