re-tinted my car to 20%... pix inside

Well fellas, decided to re-tint my car from 35% to 20%... it made a huge difference... cost me $100 to do it... since I had tint on it alreay they charge $25 to clean the window... that's how I ended up with $100 charge ... 35% is useless under the Florida sun. So for those of you getting a tint, remember to go dark and save some $$$. As always I went back to the same place where I got the tint and the owner hooked me up again (originally they charge $35 to pull out the old tint and clean the window).... Anyway, enough talking.... here are the pix

I have the same tint on my car, but i went with 15% all around and 50% on the entire windshied (doing this by the way is what really makes the difference) without the windshield your car will still get pretty hot sitting out in the sun in south florida. GET yourwind shield people. Even the owner at TINT KING in west palm beach (who only does legal tints) tinted his windshield in his new 07 TL .

Only problem I have with this setup is when it is cloudy out it is a little too dark for my taste.

Have not had one problem with Navi , KBP/Taupe 2007 TLS MT

I wish I could get 20% and still pass annual inspection. Looks great.

....

There is no State or Province that allows, legally, a tinted front windsheild beyond the AS1 line (approx 5 - 6 inches at the top) or in a couple cases a MAX of 70% which is practically OEM glass.

Now what you do on your own, I really don't care. IMO, TL's look better at around 20%. But there is a difference between "what we actually to do" and "what is legal to do".

If I didnt have a care about money I would strip my windows down and go with 20% all around and stay 50% on the windshield.

Yeah with a doctors note you can get anything you want on your car and I would probably note have a problem getting this note because i have fair skin and live in palm beach

For the windshield the best thing to do is find a shop that has sun guard and get the 65% ceramic tint, its expensive though. The guy at tint king even cahrges 125 for the 50%. It is very hard to tell the windshield is tinted with 50 or 60% unless you are sitting in the car and compare the difference. From the outside windshields allready have that glare to them so it is very hard to tell.

EDIT: the company that makes the best film for the windshiled is Solar Gard, still keeps out the same heat as 20% tint and is 60%

That is a huge difference, especially in FL. To bad that I can't get a tint and pass the inspection, but RI is gay and doesn't let you go under 70% and that is useless. Looks great.

NY is the the same. A lot of people go 20, inspection really don't care. But if the cops want to bust your b's that gives them reason to do so.

I live in Texas and it gets pretty hot here as well. I've got 5% on the rear and 20% on the fronts. It sure keeps the interior nice and cool

Thanx for the kind words guys ... I got some updated pix after I install the side rearview mirrors... I'm sorry to hear about the places that won't allow darker tint... I mean, what happen if I drive through those places with dark tint? are the cops gonna make me take off my tint? if not, if you register a Florida plate, does that mean you can get real dark tint?

anyway, enough questions.... here are the pix

P.S. with darker interior, the tint looked even darker.....

Yeah I have 20 and IMHO, they are the best... Dark enough to look cleeeeeeeean and light enough so the cops aren't all up in your business. Looks very nice...

No, you would be straight because most cops believe that you are just visiting and that the tint you have is allowed by your state. So, no problems.

Do you happen to know what is the darkest you are legally allowed in FL? I am planning to tint my windows....they already have "privacy tint" which is a joke. The 35 percent looks so much better than the 20, I must say. So is 35 the darkest u can do legally in FL? Thank yoU!

35% is lighter than 20% because it means only 20% of light is able to go through compared to 35%. I think FL's limit is 30% or something but FL is chill as HELL. I used to live in FL with 5% tint all around, which is as dark as you can go, and I got a ticket once because I made an illegal lane change, so instead of givin me a moving violation, he gave me a tint ticket.

You can look up individual state allowances for tint here:
