Actually I masked the foglight with yellow film when I was using the halogen bulb which was 55W and it was hot but didn't melt or warp the film. But after swapping out my Halogen bulbs with Philips 3000K HID set up, the heat reduced. So I think if you were to use the yellow film for the signal mirror, I doubt the LED will melt since there isnt much heat on LED and its not CREE LED. So I think it is safe to use.

I just went off that theory since my buddy actually wrapped his SMD LEDs for his angel-eyes on his BMW in yellow vinyl and it actually melted a bit.
Or rather, it shrunk in size.
Also with 1 layer of film white light still leaked through.

LEDs don't generate too much heat as opposed to halogens/HIDs so hopefully it'll work out fine still

Well your friend with the LED angel eyes had the LED constantly on so I assume it generate some heat and also have to depend on what brand yellow vinyl your friend had. I had both off brand and Oracal brand. Both different brand holds up pretty good as far as heat wise when I put it on my foglight. But I think the oracal yellow tint have a deeper yellow where as the off brand have a small tint of bronze if you look into it pretty closely

Would it be too bright for the images showing clearly on the screen or it help with better quality. Just wondering if it would show alot of light beams affecting the actual image on the screen.
Here ya go:

As you can see, the image picked up on the back up camera is very narrow. It actually puts don't more light but for the purpose you want to use it for; using the the camera to back up, it's sketchy.

Here you can see that it shoots straight out, the reflector is obsolete when using these CREE blubs.

Update, I bought some reflective items, (fake diamond earring, small piece of chrome) in hopes of reflecting some light at the reflectors which I hoped in-turn would put more light down at the ground. Bust. It did put down more light (the chrome was the best) but not enough to really see on the camerea...as someone had already suggested might be the case. Anyway, it was worth a try.

I want to see that LED for turn signals...
I want something super powerful but good enough to light up the reflector to see in the day [and so it's more complete looking at night as well]

I have the CREE+SMD leds for my turn signals. I went by JLC since they're local and I was impressed with the brightness but they wanted $60 a pair so I passed for the time being...Looked up cree leds on ebay and came across an identical bulb for about $35 shipped. Couldn't be happier! I have completely blacked out headlights with the turn signal reflector completely black. With standard bulbs you could hardly see the light in the daytime but with the crees they are bright even in bright sunlight.

edit: this is the website, I just happened to buy the bulbs from their ebay store.

Great find! How long have you been running them now?

I've been running them for only a week now. Quality seems to be just like the JLC lights. They literally look the same as their bulbs and they are just as bright, I've seen both in person. Their feedback on ebay was good so I figured i'd take the chance because they were almost half the price of the JLC bulbs.

I don't have a lumen indicator so I would not know the lumen output. But here is an idea on my car.

Just to let you know those pic on the bottom are my reverse with CREE LED and the diameter are smaller than the 7440 or 7443 bulb for the signals. So output on these and those are different. FYI my tail lamp is tinted as well.

I put in another set on the Scion Xd to give you an example too.

Which bulbs are us using? The white version CREE SMD combo (posted in post 145)?

$70.00 for a pair of back-up lights seems pretty steep to me, or is the $35.00 for 1 PAIR of bulbs?

Ah, okay. Thanks. They DO look good but I still need something that has more of a flood light output. Trying to resolve my switchback LEDs and then I'll be looking for some of the CREE SMD combos. I'll be selling my CREE's if anyone is interested.

If you are using the CREE/LED combo for the signal, wait a week or so. Because the new shipment makes your signal hyperblink. Unless you want to add a resistor externally you can get them now. Or wait a few more weeks since I've been told the new CREE/LED combo have a built in resistor to prevent any hyperblink while you signal.

When I went to JLC they weren't confident about the bulbs not hyper blinking. They told me that they shouldn't but said that they would add a resistor if needed. My ebay cree leds hyper blinked.

It's $35 for the pair. That was my whole reason for buying from that company. JLC was asking $60 a pair. Been installed for two weeks and still working great!

Don't think this has been brought up yet, but check this page for a quick, easy fix of the hyper flashing. I've done it and had success with installation of rear LED turns. Save yourself a lot of headaches and skip to page 9 or so.

Probably hasn't been brought up because reverse lights don't blink.

Would not be using them as turn indicators. I think I'll look for the CREE SMD combos on Ebay.

What's the difference between the T25 and the T10 on the website? Does only one of these fit the TL? Excuse my ignorance.

T10 is 194/168/921 etc. The T25 is 7440/7443 etc. TL is using T10 bulbs.

I haven't seen 3bspec relist the item on eBay. Just buy them from the link I provided in my first post.

Edit: just realized you want to use them for your reverse lights. Never mind the link in my post, they don't offer a cree+smd combo in that size.

I put these in my wife's car and they are insanely bright (250 lumens). I have the "standard" 921 LED model from v-leds (72 lumens) in my TL and they are no where near as bright as the above lights. I paid $50 + shipping for them, but they're on sale for like $37 now. I'm thinking about getting another set to put in my TL. They're worth every penny of $50, so $37 is a steal IMO.

btw, I'm not affiliated with v-leds in any way, just sharing a good deal.
Do these bulbs from V-LEDS illuminate like a flood light or directional like the other lights? I'm looking for super bright but I don't want to give up lighting width. Hope that makes sense.

Talking

all JLC and ebay cree led reverse lights are all the same, with the same q5 chip....my buddy was complaining that JLClighting had the brightest cree led reverse lights, i try to tell him, that they are all the same...so he spent $40 each total $80 through jlclighting plus s/h. So click on their link "HERE" and look at the address bar you'll see "CREE-Q5-LED-Reverse-Light-Bulbs" so yeah i bought my pair off ebay for $24 "HERE" and yeah we compare it to a white wall as well, how JLClighting did...guess what, same results, and yeah a 12 pack of heinken was the bet and yup i won lol....!

we compare both jlc and ebay cree led...me and my buddy counted 4 lines each on our cree led bulbs, and if you compare them on the links i provided you'll see as well

just my 1 & 2 words....no way im paying $80 on lights bulbs...
