I was thinking of doing the HID thing as I live in the country of trucks and they always tailgate, and with the lights being so high up it's as if they are high beaming me. So I was thinking of fighting back

It's not the postal and shipping charges that get you. It's the customs fees and duty applied to an international transaction that really a retailer has no choice but to pass on. They're not gouging Canadians arbitrarily.

Hey, v|nsan|ty and Myron,
I live right across the border.
I have friends who live in Detroit, Mi... and have friends who have P.O Boxes as well.
I tend to ship my parts to my buddies in the states so I don't get raped from customs.
So if you'd like, you can send me payment and I can have the bulbs shipped out to you (or any other Canadian who wishes to do so).
Shipping something this small via XPRESS [1-2 day shipping] in a bubble-envelope would cost roughly $8 CAD.
Normal shipping would cost around $3 CAD with the same bubble-envelope.
(The bubble envelopes cost around 1.49 CAD, before tax).

So, depending on package size/weight, us Canadians are left with extra bills to pay that generally start from $18. At the same time, the carrier service does not always charge the same amount.
for example, I once ordered HIDs from DDM Tuning. Duties cost me an additional 48 dollars. [wtf?]. Three weeks later, I ordered another pair of HIDs from DDM Tuning duties that time cost me an additional 22 dollars. Both times it was via UPS. Same bulb. Same ballast. Same package. Makes a lot of sense, eh?

Some sellers don't even cover for the duties and what not.

Anyho', not to derail the topic, OP. Thanks for the heads up, I think I will give these a try.

Are the CCFL a noticeable difference from LEDs? I have LEDs but haven't installed them yet. If the CCFL make a big difference, I might as well do it right the first time and order some CCFL's instead of sticking with LEDs.
Any word from other Edmonton members?

oh other members aren't really into it at the moment and I think I am not gonna do it either. Not feeling like paying 45$ for 2 lights when I need to do my timing belt and get some tires.

Okay it's all good. Thanks for the offer o4Komodo but since it's only me I'll just ship it to my cousin's place in the states and get him to send it over. Save you the hassle.

Just installed these in my TL. They're not quite as awesome as the OP's picture makes them look but they're at least five times brighter than stock. I'm completely satisfied with the purchase, $44 with shipping. I wholeheartedly recommend these bulbs.

I doubt you would need to pay someone for install. Find the DIY in the garage on how to change out the reverse bulbs and you can save yourself some $$$.
These are just LED bulbs, no ballast required from the looks of it.

Oh damn, you're right. The OP posted a link to LED reverse lights. I thought they were the HID's since the whole discussion went on to the reverse HID topic. This should be a simple install. This is the link that was posted
