MrKingston's Fully Bolted/Tuned/AccuAir Bagged '08 CBP TL-S Progress Thread 12/29/15

Hi everyone. I'm new here on the forums and also a new owner of a CBP 2008 Acura TL Type S. Bought it in early October in Miami and brought it down to the US Virgin Islands on the island of St. Croix. I got it at 36,XXX miles in very good condition. Been browsing the forums for a while to get some ideas but haven't done much as yet...

Here's some pics from my iPhone 5 at the dealer:

Now she's on the island all washed up and now my daily driver:

Current Mods:
White LED Interior Installed
Drill Slotted Rotors Installed
ScanGuage II
WeatherTech Digital Fit Floor Liners
OEM Acura TL Trunk All Weather Mat

Near Future Mods:
A-Spec Lip Kit
Custom Headlights/Tailights from AckTL05 (Currently looking into getting these)

TYPE-S with clear diffuser installed, blacked out with ZKWs and/or with CF Sides

OEM Visors
ALTP V1 Roof Spoiler
Sarona Lip Spoiler (I like how this hangs over more than the stock one)

HID Fogs
Wheels I haven't decided as yet but definitely in Hyper Silver, Gunmetal, or Black.

Any other tips or ideas are welcomed. Thanks for looking.

Congrats on the new CBP bro, and such low miles! Looks like a familiar sight to me haha
You've started a nice list, can't wait to see what you do with it

Looking good so far, congrats! A drop would greatly help

It appears that you have an aftermarket 07-08 Base front bumper. Keep that in mind when/if you order the A-Spec kit.

And definitely a drop, doing some more homework on what I should get. Any suggestions?

Thanks! Wow I didn't even realize it is. I know the bumper was aftermarket considering the Acura is missing. But I didn't notice it might be a base front bumper.

I read these two threads:

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/unofficial-spec-difference-thread-853331/
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/how-front-type-s-aspec-base-07-08-bumper-835689/

and basically gave me all the DIY info I would need when the time comes for the A Spec install.

As quoted "The Type-S A-Spec front and rear pieces can fit on Base TL bumpers. Modifications will have to be made to do so since the bumpers have different overall shapes and since the Type-S rear bumper has wider exhaust outlets."
I just love these forums…

Well I ordered one of these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/281206659118...84.m1497.l2649

I believe these are the aftermarket replica versions…

Car looks great

Beware- I bought my car with an aftermarket base front bumper also (didnt even realize it), but....the a-spec front lip fit horrible and had pretty big gaps on both sides. I've since replaced the bumper with the correct OEM type-s version from acura. That drove me nuts

Thanks for the heads up, I was thinking about replacing the aftermarket front bumper with the oem at the same time I get the A Spec kit just to be on the safe side.

Smile Small Update

Yes they are. I also discovered that the trunk lip spoiler was also a base model trunk lip spoiler. But I bought one from azeezp13 on the Black Market and it should be here anytime now.

Yeah they are wicked. I already contacted AckTL05 and I should be receiving them within a week or so.

Yeah I already joined. Thanks.

A small quick update, I bought & received the OEM Visors from Kaiii on the BM. They are installed but I haven't got to take any pics yet cuz it keeps raining & I wanted to take pics when it's clean. I received the Replica ALTP V1 Roof Spoiler (Or the eBay Duraflex) today, so over the holidays after I receive the OEM Type S Trunk Spoiler (which supposed to arrive today ) I will have them painted and install but here is a teaser of the roof spoiler.

Also I want to paint my calipers like the Brembo Gold ones. I googled for some answers and came up with Inca Pearl Clearcoat Y-61P which is the closet match. Next month I plan to buy 4 new tires so I will begin my research on some good ones. We don't have snow down here in the islands so all season tires or even summer would be fine. Any suggestions tho? (Ride quality/smoothness, durability, good pricing, etc) Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated and thanks for looking once again. I love AcuraZine!

I though about that today & I might actually look into that. Although I never seen anyone or know anyone that does that on island. Usually they would just order whatever they want already in CF. How hard is it to wrap it in CF if I order a roll from say AckTL05?

btw the right side of your roof spoiler looks like it's not adhered too well? Looks like the front right corner's sticking out a bit

The roof spoiler isn't installed yet. I only rested it on to take a few pics to get an idea of how it looks, fitment, etc. I'm still waiting on the type s trunk lid spoiler so I can have both painted CBP and installed at the same time. But as a future mod I will definitely get a roll of CF Vinyl and do some wrapping.

It's not too difficult to apply the carbon fiber. Just have a heat gun or a hair dryer handy.

Thanks for the advice!

Ok guys here's another tiny update. I received the OEM Type S Trunklid Spoiler (Finalllllyyyyyy!!!) yesterday and it is being painted as I type this. As for the roof spoiler, it has been painted but still awaiting install. I could have gotten it installed today during my lunch break but I figured I'd install both at the same time. But I decided to take a few sneak peek pics to show how great it matches. So dive in and take a look below:

It's not sitting flush because there are two screws on both sides which was required to hang the roof spoiler while being painted. Next it will have to sand & buff. So I can't wait until both are done and installed. Will update in a few days hopefully before the end of the week...

Talking Roof Spoiler Installed!!!

Trunk spoiler up next but I need some new tabs and it was too late to get some because parts/hardware stores were already closed for the night.

Your right. There is only one WDP TL-S here on island that has a roof spoiler. I believe one of those bmwoemshop type one from eBay.

Oh you been to the VI before? Which island & how did you enjoy your stay?

Hey guys I'm back again, seems like this will be a fun weekend for me. Look at what came in today. Thanks Bruce!!

So as of now here are my current list of mods:
ScanGuage 2
D/S Rotors
5K Interior LEDs
WeatherTech Digital Fit Floor Liners
OEM Acura TL Trunk All Weather Mat
Custom CDM Tail lights from Bruce AckTL05
MORIMOTO 3FIVE D2S HID Bulbs 5K
Duraflex Roof Spoiler (ALTP V1 Replica)

Next on my mods list:
A-Spec Lip Kit
Custom Headlights from Bruce (ZKW-R, CF Sides)
CF Interior Kit inspired by Pitorican

I'm still debating on a drop because I scrape to enter my driveway, and when I come to work. Then the roads here on the island are not the best, dodging pot holes left & right so it will be a long while before I decide on coilovers & rims. I will be back with pics on the results over the weekend.

Oh wow that means your overdue for another visit!

Ok guys here's another update. The tail lights from Bruce aka AckTL05 came out waaaay better than I imagined! In the shadows it looks completely smoked/stealth like but in the light you can see it better. I absolutely love them and I can't stop watching from the back lol. Also, the same day I decided to wash the car, the VLeds 5K DRL came in. The 5K Switchbacks are backordered, so I did a quick install instead of waiting for everything to come in. But here are some pics for your enjoyment & some randoms:

Thank you! I'm thankful for this forum and other members for the ideas, suggestions, & inspirations. My VLeds 5K V3 Tritons & 5K Foglight bulbs are on the way, I'm ordering my A-Spec Lip Kit this week & I also will be ordering Akata 15mm & 20mm Wheel Spacers. I was thinking about getting the USR Front & Rear Switchback side markers, any cons? Fitment issues on a Type S?

Here's some more random shots I took yesterday when I went for a drive:
