it's going to sit a little below the exhaust bumper cover. Any higher the tips will melt that black plastic cover

When you had them welded you could position or angle it however you want.

Hey I licked the link you posted earlier and that link is expired.
I searched on the site and found these
http://www.afterthoughtsauto.com/twin-exhaust-tips.html

Is these the same ones you have?

Those are badass but I'm ordering these:

http://www.redtailperformance.com/Ex...ance_RTP-I027/

Is 2.5"ID the right size for the inlet?

When I go get these welded on im going to do the mid muffler delete while im there. I need a little purr out of her.

You think these would fit my 04 Base TL with Aspec.

I think we have 6 inches to play with and the type-s has 8.

So the answer is probably no on those.

^^ The trick is you need to order a pair of tips that are staggered, but in opposition. Double wall, polished, $120, FTW.

These guys, from your second link. You can see that they are polished from the inlet to the outlet. Some alternatives just have the tips polished (Ford Flex look-a-like), but the more popular ones on the forum are polished from end to end:

My muffler has an Inlet of 2.25
Did you guys have trouble installing 2.5 Tips? Did you have to enlarge the hole of the muffler?

There is a 2.25" inlet version. That's what I used.

Yea, but due to cost and shipping fee's I had to find a supplier here in Canada "DT Exhaust" and they have a 2.5" version of the Tips.

Hey y'all,

I got a 2006 base TL. I know the base bumper won't fit the quads so that's why I'm considering either a Type S or A Spec bumper. As for the quads, these are the ones I'm looking at:

Stainless Steel Dual Exhaust Tips 4 0 2 5 Acura 04 08 TLS 09 11 TL 12 14 TL | eBay

Any good places to find a bumper that would fit these?

Send a PM to one of our Vendors named AckTL (Bruce). He usually has these.

Probably will fit a base if the Rear ASPEC for a Type S is installed.. If you do it post pics!

Just got mine done, tips from socalmotorsports. I like then but I wish I would have known that due to the base exhaust the tips will come out at an angle and sit low. I should have paid more attention to the pictures posted.
So as a WARNING, if you are OCD these tips will not mount striaght out of the bumper, it will come out at an angle and sit low, if you can live with it then you will be happy. Time will tell if this bothers me enough to buy something new or go back to factory tips.

Thanks but they come out at an slant and also slant upwards, it's the location of the stock opening on the mufflers, the stock tip has a "S" bend.
I'm sure most won notice but if you look back at the pictures in this thread you will see all the base exhaust with the quad tip has this issue.

You're right, I suppose it's because you don't have the rear lip to make it sit better.

actually unless your car was a A-Spec or TL-S from the factory, you will have this issue. i been studying pictures for the last 3 hours lol. I guess no one cares but me but once I tell you, you will notice it.
