Gray Ghost progress thread
Time for an update.
This weekend I installed Moleskin on all the doors. Took about an hour, didn't have to remove the door panels.
My son and I then installed the roof spoiler. Forgive the dirt, it's been so windy here it's been stirring up all the dust in the area and depositing it on the cars.

Nice easy mod took about 5 minutes (if you don't count the hour it took to remove the double sided tape and excess adhesive and replace with VHB).
Then the trunk lid spoiler.

Another easy one took about 5 minutes.
And last but not least a little detail that hopefully will prevent my tire valve caps from getting stolen by the local bike punks in the neighborhood.

Acura tire valve stems with set screws to prevent theft.
Still waiting on my URS sidemarkers, hopefully they'll be installed this weekend.

Which car would you say is faster? The chrysler 300C or your TL? Might be a dumb question knowing that the 300C has nearly 70HP and 150ft/lbs tq more than the TL, but weighs nearly 500lbs more.
Also which one is more "luxury" and nicer to you? Why?
The reason I ask is because I know a couple of people with the chrysler 300C also. Seeing how you owned both vehicles, it would only make sense to ask you.
I've been inside the chrysler 300C. It definitely feels roomy but sitting inside it (drivers seat, front passenger, rear passenger) the car feels bubbly big. The seats seem pretty high up. The view out the front windshield was different. The interior layout and design is something I wouldn't consider "luxury" either...
To me when it comes to interior styling and comfort I prefer my TL over every category when compared to the chrysler 300C (2005/2006) but I'm pretty sure my opinion is biased because I'm the owner of the TL and not the 300C... "Beauty is within the eye of the beholder" so you may like both cars equally lol.
I never drove the 300C, but while sitting in the front passenger my friend took me for a test run on the highway and it certainly did not feel fast at all. I was expecting more from the 340HP/390TQ hemi

Thanks. I like to get things done and out of the way. Problem is I keep finding mods to do! This weekend I carbon fibered the console trim, debadged the rear and painted the "A" sign on the trunk lid. Next weekend I'm planning a full detail with paint correction.

I think the "luxury" of the 300C is different from the TL. The 300C just has a few additional details that the TL doesn't. Like automatic headlights and wipers, one touch Bluetooth, auto dimming side mirror, nicer visor mirrors/lights, fold down rear seat, etc. The leather seats in the TL are much nicer and the console layout I prefer more. The driver's vision is much better. The TL handles much better but that's to be expected.

It's on the list.
I know for sure my TL has automatic headlights and bluetooth but what do you mean by 1-touch?
Which one do you think would win in a race the TL or the 300C ?
Maybe I missed the auto headlights on the TL but on mine I have to turn the stalk to get them to come on. Is there a switch somewhere to put them into auto mode? I've only had the car 2 months so I could have missed it.
I guess I'll have to get my son in the 300C and race him and see who wins.
One of the click positions on the headlight knob is 'auto'. At least 07 TL-S. I set it there the first day and have never touched the knob since haha.
Which reminds me about the law - headlights when using wipers. It totally escaped my mind! I am lucky I haven't been pulled over. Can anyone tell me if the headlights go full-on when wipers are on? Or are the day-time running lights sufficient to satisfy that law?

Thanks. The grayer (is that a word?) the car got the more the red sidemarkers stuck out. They just had to go. Easy install too. Took about 15 minutes. My next real task is figuring out what to do with the grill. Some or all of the silver has got to go.
Hmm, that's a tough one on your color car, I think all black with throw your theme off, nothing else is all black, maybe color match it to your car? And leave the "A" and circle chrome?
I thought about that but I'm not sure I want it the same color as the car. Thinking about carbon fiber wrap. I have already painted the "A" on the rear hammered metal gray so I might do the front "A" the same way.
CF would look pretty good. If you're skeptical about the color matched grille ask someone to photoshop it for you? I know later down the road I'm having my grille and that license plate strip color matched. I have NBP though.
I wrapped the license plate strip in CF vinyl this weekend. Looks so much better.
Question. Do your mud gaurds still fit over your aspec kit rear and sides?
Looks as if they can, did you test fit them to see if the would match up?
Never even bothered to check. Didn't like them anyway so I left them off. I don't think they would though as the lip kit has a different shape and the mudguards seem like they are molded to fit.
A couple of new mod shots as promised. Sorry for the quality I shot them in the parking lot at work this morning. It finally stopped raining.

The mud guards do not fit over the A-Spec kit.
Ghost it looks sweet, I've been thinking of doing CF wrap as well until I can paint my trim pieces. As for interior I'm probably going to go through carid.com and get their real CF dash kit.

it's great to see another AM brotha making their TL their own. I agree with you on the grille, I hate how the silver sticks out in the front and back.
my front and rear "A" is black, so my plan is to paint the crossbar of the grille AM and wrap the trim in the front in CF vinyl. (oh, and I'm gonna steal ur idea on the CF vinyl wrap on the license plate trim.)

I think I'm going to try the CF wrap on the whole grill and painting the "A". That way if I don't like it it's easy to remove and start over.
Installed bright white LEDs in the interior and rear license plate. So much better than the stock amber blah bulbs. Now I just need a good set of LEDs for the backup lights.
Also did my first full paint correction (Dawn wash, clay bar, swirl remover, polish, sealant and wax). Came out pretty good considering I'm a rookie. Didn't get a chance to take pics before the sun went down. Hopefully tomorrow.

Nice man!! Do want pics
where did you get your LED's from? First hand experience tip: don't cheap out on reverse LED's, I got mine in 68 bulb LED's and they're not bright at all, super disappointed.

I think that would look good on your color. I have WDP and wrapped the front crossbar in CF. Here is a pic:

I got them from a member here aretardedorange. He recommends the Cree v.3 LEDs for the backups.
Nope. He mailed them to me so maybe early this coming week.
I did a 1x3 trans flush this afternoon. So much easier than I thought it was going to be. The next 2 will be even easier. Only have 40k on the car but 6 years of driving without anyone doing anything to the trans fluid definitely took it's toll. Felt so good to get 3 quarts of Amsoil ATF in there.
