Full LED conversion kit with SUPER BRIGHT PANEL LED'S

always been a lurker of the forum but haven't posted much, mainly because this 05 TL was never really driven because i have a car for work

i just upgraded all of the lights on the interior, i had regular SMD wedge bulbs before that changed the look of the interior, was a little brighter than factory, but wasn't bright enough for me, so i went ahead and measured what i could fit and i ordered SMD PANEL LED's from automation lighting

my order list consisted of this if anyone is interested in the same set up
-front map lights - "36smd t-rex panel light" x2
-rear map lights - "12smd godzilla panel light" x2
-front door lights - "t10 1watt high power" x2
-trunk light - "t10 9smd 5050" x1
-license plate light - "t10 5smd 5050" x2
-reverse light - "CREE 921/T15 5w high power" x1 (comes in a pair)

note: all pictures are taken with an iphone 4s with NO editing, i'm sure the pictures would have came out better if i used a nicer camera but this is all i have at the time

day time pics:

night time pics:

looks good man...i have similar ones.

make sure you hide that positive wire...it's an eye sore. i stuck mine on vertically to disperse the light more evenly and it covers the wires.

Lookin good guys. That Korean led guy, I think it's exLed or something made a kit for our 3G TL. Thought someone here might be interest. I thought he was asking too much for the kit.

yeah i will correct the positive wire later on tonight

as far as being blinding, i thought it was initially, but i'm used to it now and i really like it, i get to see everything in the car and it just makes the car look that much better

they have a car kit also, http://automationled.bigcartel.com/p...acura-tl-04-08, but i had to email them and set up a "kit" for the panel LED's

Looks good!

I'm planning on selling my current VLED dome setup and going with these LED boards.

Is it 12 bucks for 1 36 LED board or a pair?

not worth that kind of money IMO.

Once its bright, its bright...brighter than bright is unnecessary

I think I paid <50$ for my whole kit. Domes, reverse, license plate, and like 4-5 extra bulbs. All ebay no names.

That being said it still looks good. I get lots of compliments.

I just don't like being able to see the yellow dots and the boards...but it does look good when they're on.

And here I'm thinking my domes are bright. My Cree reverse bulbs don't light up that bright but then again it was advertised that they were very bright and weren't. I'd have to see them in person for myself. Other then that OP the LEDs look good!

Don't really like seeing yellow dots in the ceiling of my TL... The brightness is unnecessarily bright, and seeing the actual LED dots makes it look really ugly.

Seeing how you went all out on brightness for the interior, I'm surprised you didn't go for angled flank style bulbs for the license plate lights. They are 3x brighter than the 5-led 360 style bulbs you have.

Since you have a Type-S with a back-up camera I would highly recommend you to ditch those garbage CREE LEDs and get something that is more useful when using your back-up camera to see at night.

Here's what I'm talking about

I admit, the first 2 months I had the JLC Crees installed I was really hyped, happy, and proud to have them. It wasn't long after until I started realizing that I couldn't see shit on my navi back-up camera while in reverse.

The Cree LEDs shine light in a straight focused beam. It's so bright and focused that on the back-up camera display it just shows as a white hot spot in the CENTER of the navi. The left, right, above, and under is still dark and hard to see.

Not only does it still leave areas unlit, but the area that is in the center of the navi camera is still hard to see because the Cree LEDs are so bright that it's kind of hard to distinguish and make or see things in the back up camera.... Here's the picture of JLC and than V-LEDs..

JLC

JLC W/ BRAKES APPLIED (Somewhat lights up the areas that the JLC doesn't illuminate)

19LED 8Watt 5K V-LEDS (no brakes applied at all, just parking/e-brake)

No competition.... OK The JLCs do cost only $40, and the V-LEDs cost $50. Luckily for me, I purchased it from V-LEDs while they were on sale for only $34.99.

There's a pretty thin line between "bright enough" and "overkill". Those panel lights are just too bright for a map light IMO. Maybe I was traumatized by my dentist when I was a kid or something...who knows. I think they'd be great for the trunk, but for the interior, the 5 or 6-LED wedge bulbs are more than enough. The brighter-is-better idea works for exterior lighting, but for interior lighting....not so much.

Very bright! That's so bright Stevie wonder could read your maps dude.

I have been messing around with LEDs, right now it's VLEDs for the license plate/trunk, and I have been using these super cheap LEDs I got off amazon for the interior and they look just as good as anything, and they were 4.99 for a pack of four. We will see how long they last, but they look just as good as the VLEDs however the construction of the VLEDs is superior.. They look and feel very solid for a little light

just wedge a small flat head screw driver in between and lightly apply pressure, it'll pop right off

ugh gotta love led boards instead of LEDs.

My fronts came in a week ago and I love the brightness.

Does your dome cover hit the LED board?

Sweet...

Those must be some pretty thin LED boards.

Or maybe it's because I mounted my LED boards long ways.
