Yea it was kinda crazy. The rest of the car is in great shape, but for some reason the valve covers were just filthy. Maybe the engine cover is to blame, trapping things over the covers and not allowing for them to be cleaned?
Also I don't think they came painted on my car - they were so dirty I couldn't tell from the quick look I took that day. But if true then it's possible the rough casting surface also helps to trap dirt and grime, oil residue etc. painted surfaces are smoother and easier to keep clean.
Idk but looks awesome now

Hondabond can take the ~400-450F heat from powder coating (IIRC it's rated for ~600F), but I wasn't able to find out whether or not a chem dip was safe for it. Since I didn't have to dip, I was ok. I didn't want to separate the manifold and have to re-do the hondabond, and my powder coater said if it was painted from the factory, they could just kind of hand strip the exterior surface to avoid having to dip it, but luckily in my case, no need.

The upper intake manifold is made up of two halves. You can see the bolts around the edges that hold the two halves together. Since acuraoemparts.com doesn't show the manifold separating or a gasket for it, I've always assumed Honda used hondabond to seal off the two halves...maybe they do, maybe they don't, I never separated mine so I don't know for sure (coulda sworn I saw some type of grey sealant around some edges inside), but somehow it's air tight, otherwise the IM would leak and the car wouldn't run right, might throw a CEL, etc.
They use hondabond on the valve cover baffles. You can see it. Hondabond is just a sealant. I *think* it's the same stuff they use to seal off the oil pan too. Not sure where else they use it.
Originally I looked into separating the manifold to PnP inside it, clean it out and powder coat it without fear of the oven temps damaging whatever gasket material was in there, if any. Eventually I gave up on this idea and just powder coated the whole thing, and it's fine - just don't sand blast it. I did remove the top plate and the butterflies just in case, so if you do that make sure you take photos as you remove things, there are a few washers and stuff that you want to make sure you re-install correctly afterwards. A few cell phone pics made sure I did

My car? Haven't dyno'd yet, so I estimate anywhere around 280hp-300hp at the wheels, based on what I've seen here on Azine. That's around~330hp-350hp under the hood. Will hopefully hit the dyno later this year once I get hondata.

Their white TLX on Vossen wheels? It was there, I just didn't take any photos of it because we already have a bunch here on Azine...it was a multi brand car meet, and since we had a local Azine meet just 3-4 weeks ago, I ended up focusing on other cars at this meet.
Was really cool to see the LFA and 2000GT, never seen either one before. Lexus def has something going on, the RC F's were gorgeous. It's just a shame the RC350 doesn't come in a manual...now, if only Honda wakes up and smells the coffee, we might see some great cars again, like the old Integra Type R's...come on Honda, stop dicking around already...

Yup, it's amazing how much corrosion builds up on the battery terminals. A good wire brush goes a long way

Reason why I ask is because if I really liked a car, no matter if theres a million pictures online of it already, I'd still take a picture of it.
Me personally, the car is nice, but nothing I go crazy over.

They should just drop the 4-cyl TL"X" since they have the ILX as the entry level econ option, and re-do the TL"X" properly. Just thinking out loud here, what do I know...

Hopefully next year headlights and tail lights. Need to finalize the plans for performance and depending on that, light weight wheels at some point. And then I think I'm done
