why exactly did you back into the truck?
Looks like one of those- pull out slow as you turn full lock and hope its going to clear the other car,,,,,scrrrrraaaaaapppppppepeeeeeee
I watch people do that and wonder how exactly they think there is a way to tell distance...before the bad noise

Looks like just sheet metal damage- cut it off and replace- some paint, and good to go.
Not like a bad crash with damaged frame and bent suspension!
No one injured- thats the most important thing in Life. Insurance covers the rest~

looks like also maybe he was pulling out of his space when the TL was pulling in to the one infront...

regaruding the damage, it'll take the shop about 3-4 days to straighten the fender since welding in a new one would really mess up the ACE construction. Then they would replace the door skin and any damaged internals, then send it in for paint. In paint, they will paint the quarterpanel, request that it be painted to the front pillar along the top edge and then the entire fender. Then they will paint the door, tell em to wetsand the door and take of any buildup on the edges before spraying clear. Then they will spray clear and wetsand. They might blend in the front door to.

When you get the car back, check the bottom edges for any drips, check the paint to make sure it is smooth and there is no dust, make sure there are no color mis-matches, on the inside of the door, check for tape lines and the same on that door-jamb. Check the wheel well to make sure they painted properly and reinstalled the carpet and everything else. Make sure the door handle works fine, power locks and window without any trouble.

It'll take about 2-3 weeks to get it done right. It took them 5 days to remove a big dent from my driver side rear quarter panel above the wheel arch and repaint the passenger door and the rear quarter panel.

Well guys this is how it happened:

I was going straight in the far right lane. The idiot in the Durango didn't see me (she said my car was so low) and started making her turn wayyy too early and basically just sideswiped me with her bumper.

Insurance is taking care of it, but damage to my car is estimated at $6-7k with a 3 week wait. The door wouldn't even open and the window would only go halfway down.

Man, I loved my car and now I'm thinking it'll never be the same.

The location in which it hit is one that is easy to repair, but costly. the damage isn't going to affect anything really, just resale. It didn't hit the suspension nor bend the frame, so your good. The factory door frame will be used so no fitment issues there. Don't worry about it not being the same, it will be. also if the offending lady had state farm, you get 30 dollars a day for a rental...

You're car was too low . I guess she's never seen a Miata or s2k (no pun intended). Glad you're ok.

And I think you might want to get a second opinion about the damage...that should buff out (someone was bound to say it ).

I got an almost identical hit on my driver side... but it was 13k in damage, she looks almost as she did before the accident... atleast ur wheel and tire is ok...

ps. car still looks murdered out even with the hit... accidents happen... you should find out about diminished value...

The car's a lease, but I was seriously thinking about buying out the lease after 3 years. Now...not so much.

Don't let this accident defer you from buying the car. Although it will have diminished value, you obviously like your TL, and that's what matters.

Well the good thing is the damage won't effect how the car drives. They should be able to match the black paint easily, so it should be as good as new.

She'll live. I've seen worst at the race tracks only to see the same car back on the tracks the following month.

Will you be attending the All Cali meet regardless?

I just got off the phone with the body shop. Altogether it cost $3,400 to fix and should be done by Aug 1st, which is good news considering the fact that I was expecting upwards of $6k and 3+ weeks.

NBP very hard color to match, watch after repaired and few months color start faded and start to mismatch the factory paint.

Nothing beats factory paint.

I was really planning on going, but now I don't have a ride!

They have a caravan set up if you'd like to join the group. Just might need a ride to the location where they will meet. I drove out to Cali last year to the All Cali meet from Texas (I use to live in good ol' SoCal). It was pretty dope. I enjoyed it. What I didn't enjoy was breaking an axle on the way there, blowing my head gaskets, and driving through the desert with no A/C. Next time I go, it'll be with my Titan pulling her. The whole Cali group is filled with a great crowd.

Damn, that sucks. Glad that you're ok.

BTW, wasn't your car at Santa Monica Acura like a couple weeks ago? I was there dropping my car off for service when I saw your ride.

Hehe yea that was my ride...one of my front turn signals was out. I really hate their service dept though. Whenever I'm in the valley I always take it to Keyes.
