Engine compartment mod for the Type S.
I had the engine compartment pieces painted and added carbon fiber to some pieces too.....enjoy!!!

Here's the carbon fiber pieces.

Sorry the pictures are not great-I took them in the garage at 11 o'clock at night. I'll try to get some better pictures tomorrow, when we finally have some good weather here in Kansas City (60 degrees and sunny!)

Be sure to post pics of yours too!
Thanks Jaime-buddy, YOU are the inspiration for most of this-especially the carbon fiber stuff! By the way, I also did carbon fiber on my strut supports for the engine hood, like yours. Thanks for that ideas and inspiration!
I don't think I'm going to do a CAI-Kansas City gets so much rain, I'm reluctant to put one on-for fear of engine lock up. It was weird you ask about that, because one of the Service Writers at the dealership I go to said to me, "Steven, you know what I'm going to be doing while you're on the radio this Saturday? I'm going to be tearing apart an engine that locked up because of a CAI-we'll be listening to you all day while unlocking this engine".
That did it for me.....
Yea, I got one during the holiday season for donating and didn't want to put in on just one window, so I put it on the strut bar.

Steven will eventually get a CAI, he just doesn't know it yet.

Btw, can't wait to see the painted bay in person.

Don't worry all, I'm still patiently working him on this. The Service writer scared him with a story of a guy that was stupid and must have went through some deep water. I've been running a CAI for almost 3 years now and most of that is in KC.

Buddy, you are too funny!!! Yea, in the back of my mind, I "never say never", when it comes to the CAI.
I am anxious for you to see the painted engine bay!

^^^ I'm not sure what he used. This friend of mine that did the job works for a mobile touch-up automotive paint service. So he's all over Kansas City doing automotive touch up painting. You could go to an auto parts store and get high heat spray cans of any color. Just rough up the surface a little and shoot.
But I can tell you that the pictures to not do the center engine cover (in red) justice. Everyone that see's it in person said to leave it red!

Here's a couple of iPhone pictures I took outside today. The original pics were from in the garage late night. Hopefully these outside shots will do alittle more justice to the red engine cover.

I'm not sure-a friend of mine that works for a mobile touch-up car paint company did these for me. I asked him to use hi temp paint, so I'm thinking that's what I've got.
I think I might have an extra one somewhere!

Lylen, it really isn't that bad. A lot of guys are doing it these days (both the painting and the carbon fiber). Just make sure you have a heat gun for the carbon fiber part. For the engine pieces, get some hi heat spray paint and rough up the surface of the engine cover pieces.

I have to be really careful w/ my peices cause they scratch really easily. I did mine white and I can already see a scratch here and there. Since the plastic is black, and the paint is white, scratches are really noticable.

^^^^ Take some touch-up paint to the scratches. That might help.
