Diskinnect's Build Thread [lots of pics]
PHOTOS GET PROGRESSIVELY BETTER!!!
ALL OF THE PHOTOS WORK.
theres just so many you might need to refresh it to get it to show all of them lol..
okay so its been a little bit longer than three years since i got my car. It was purchased on December 23rd 2007 when i was ... shieet barely 17. i was poor as fuck and couldnt do any mods. i lurked around the forums for a while and i seriously thought STOCK height was a good enough height for the car. this was my first car that i modded so you will see a thread full of fail before you see nice photos of the car.
in this thread you will see like the ugliest shit on a TL you could possibly see. but hey its a learning process. this was my first HEAVILY modded car, and honestly everything at my age lookED cool. so theres gonna be a lot of fail. just know its a learning process and one day your car will end up looking dope.
i never really posted a build thread or progress photos of my car because 1. people on acurazine are hella haters, you guys talk shit about like everything you guys dont like... and 2. i never thought my car looked good enough or different enough cause... basically 3/4 of the cars on the photo thread look ... stock lol.
ANYWAYS on to the photos
heres the stock photos: ugly as fuuhk
and then i got my first job at starbucks... and blew my first paycheck on some shitty ass 300$ craigslist rims with tires and some ugly ass tint for my headlights and taillights... lol never ever do this guys
super fail..
then i started learning more about cars and that 4x4 craigslist wheels are the worst... dont ever buy stuff on craigslist. and you ALWAYS get what you paid for. my FIRST real mod was tein basics coilovers. and this should be everyone's first mod. suspension dramatically changes the entire look of the car. and of course you gatta dump it!!
maxed out all around baby
also picked up my second mod. a set of window visors from tim (ib18c1) who ended up being one of my closest car friends and helped me throughout every step of my TL modding journey
after coil overs i definitely needed a good set of wheels (no more cheap craigslist rims) to complement my drop. tested out a set of my friends algernon intelesse 2 rims 18x8 + 36 matched with 225/40/18.. yee offset kinda weak and ended up wanting something more aggressive
got myself some lighting mods... BEST night time mod especially because it changes the entire appearance of the car at night time. plus they make you hella stand out. also at the same time got interior leds all around and also led rear license plate.. SEXY MOD
ended up building myself a magnaflow quad mufflers affter i got into an accident. got rear ended on the freeway which gave me a free type s rear bumper... legit. the magnaflow mufflers were way too loud and my EX girlfriend got super pissed. so i swapped them with OEM type s quads. you can see the magnaflow quads in the picture above^ failed again...
i met up with this guy on the forum (tony) who was looking to get a base aspec front lip and i was hoping to find a type s aspec front lip. best way to do that ... swap the bumpers.
and some night time photos of them
added more to the aggressiveness of the front end. i decided to get my headlights cleared and blacked out by once again Tim.. this guys a freaken life savor for me. flawless work. forgive my hella negative camber. i didnt have any money lol... also installed an AEM CAI intake around this time but unfortunately i dont have any pictures
yeah hella fail
so i picked up a set of MB battles which were 18x9.5 + 15 stretched onto 225/40/18 tires. ended up not feelin the dropp and couldnt slam it all the way down cause i didnt have a front or rear camber kit which meant... RUBBB. so only had them on the car for maybe a month and sold them right away.
yeah... hella fail once again
decided to get a vinyl black roof as well as switchbacks to match my 6k hids
yeah not bad.. super aggressive front end. basically just forgot about the rest of the car lol
finally picked up my set of Varrstoen Rims 2.2.1 i believe. the owner of Varrstoen is such a legit guy and i really loved the quality of the wheels. they were really light weight which almost felt like the car was moving faster. especially to the 27 pound MB wheels that i had before which made my car WAYY to slow for my taste. got my first taste of some good photos as well. taken by my good friend from school. Hoang Pham photography!
decided to get some hella flush stickers that got me a lot of flame on the forums...ended up taking like all of them off
and then picked up a set of Weds Kranze ER-M wheels 18x8 + 33 and 18x9 + 33 matched onto 225/40/18 kumho estcas tires and took some photos with my roommates from school
AND FINALLY here is how the car sits now. car is 18x8+8 and 18x9 +13 offset
-3 degree camber all around and maxed out coilovers in the rear (THEY DONT GO LOW ENOUGH) and like 4 threads left in the front
all in all... im 20 years old. ive installed EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY MODS BY MYSELF with no prior knowledge. and i think that everyone should seriously do this. learn about your car, learn about cars. and overall i honestly hate the shit out of my car lol. its way too much work and things NEVER go right when trying to install them lol.. but yeah you seriously learn a lot of shiet. anyways i still need to finish my car cause its not done yet. need to get a rear type s aspec lip and also aspec side skirts as well as a decklid. as far as tinting goes im not sure whether or not i will tint it in the future. i kinda like the see through look. OR i might just part out and buy a motorcycle lol, cars are too frustrating and doesnt give me that adrenaline rush that im lookin for. we will definately see in the near future! thanks for looking.

On behalf of all us haters here on Azine, I'd just like to say your car looks really good. I liked every set of wheels you sported. The stance is there. I would recommend keep the tint light, I hate my 6% too damn dark and attracts cops. Three tint tickets later I think I'm gonna re-do the sides 35% and keep the rear as is should flow well when I black out my roof.
Keep us posted on any new developments, don't forget the pics. Peace out!

Nice progression car looked flawless with the Varrstoen rims my personal favorite.
Could you please post specifications relating to the Varrstoen's
ie, size, width, offset?

Hey everyone has to start somewhere and i would say non of your mods were that bad, accept you tinted headlights and tails!
I had a 94 civic when i was 17... painted it BRIGHT orange, added underglow, LED's everywhere, and all the gauges i could fit in that car... In highschool everything looks bad ass. ahaha
