Yeah man...you're experiencing it NOW with how you feel about the CL. So you learn your lesson now and be happy with you got!
Now, I'll need you to remind me of that next time I feel the same way. In addition to being a great motivator, I'm a great hypocrite!

GODZILLA & 3G TL
Don't get rid of TL...instead get a UR stock size crank pulley, save 9 lbs at the crank and your car will feel like new! Trust me bro, that mod is awesome! Really wish I did it a long time ago. Pretty affordable too, just sayin.

I can sympathize. I sort of miss my 92 Cavalier. It wasn't actually a good car, but 8 years and it never gave up on us. The Accord's being a prissy bitch. But one week with our old cars and you and I would be pining for the ones we have now.
Think about the problems you might've had with your CL. There are a bunch of subjective things you'll miss about your TL if you went back to your CL:
- Like the backseat (
)
- WDP hides the swirls better than ABP
- You'd probably be on your next transmission with the CL, or at least worrying about it
- The compliments you get with your TL probably outnumber what you got with the CL
- Dem gauges
etcetera, etcetera.

Hey Tyler,I know exactly what ur feelin....Basically the reason your unhappy is because your car is hooked up,but missing the final piece to your puzzle... mmmn, what could it be? Ill tell u...New Wheels........Once you get your bread right u can sport those weds u have been wanting......that's all your car needs to make u fall in love with her all over again..I have alittle OCD goin on too....Little things bug the shit out of me until I fix them. Remember at the ISO Meet? After I went there I realized I wasn't to happy with my TL until I fixed the headlight and tail light situation, and went back with 19's...Even putting the spacers on up front...etc....Your Tl wins hands down against the Cl

-NOONE has a CL. You might see one or two a month.
-Backseat?? Fuck on the hood. Thats what its for.
-No drive by wire.
-Tranny issues? Lulzsixspeed
But fine, you guys do have more aftermarket aesthetic support and the interior is a bit better IMO.

Civic, nobody is CL bashing, my friend...I've sweat those cars from the moment I saw them, especially in that copper color similar to blaze orange...6 speed, well I got that to.
3G, I wasn't sold on it till I saw the aspec...I was in love with the 2G type S for a long time.
3G has some great lines and I agree, we like to fuck on the hood too.
CL is the shit...we were more getting him off the ledge for missing a previous car than bashing the CL.

Let me say this now so there is no confusion about it...
I'm not selling the TL.
Let me explain a few reasons why I've contemplated it though.
I've regretted the TL purchase ever since Day 1. Even driving off of the lot I asked myself if I was going to regret this or not. 6 days after I bought the TL, my CL was already sold, and I had paperwork in front of me for a 2006 S2000. Dark graphite color with red/black interior. I knew from the get-go that I wasn't happy with the TL and I was stuck with it.
I feel like a selfish and spoiled bitch saying that. I'm VERY fortunate compared to others and I don't like thinking that I take shit for granted. I've been working since I was 16, saving my money for cars and such, yet through college I've been relying on my parents to pay the car payment and I've been blowing money on mods. I feel like I'm using them and it's not fair to them, especially when I said I would be making the payments.
Parting out the TL and selling it would get me around $13k, with $13k being pretty generous ($10k for the car, $3k for the goodies. Most expensive parts being the exhaust and the wheels).
I found a gorgeous 2003 CL-S, ABP/Black, 6-speed for $8k. Pay cash for the CL-S and pay off the TL with the extra funds. That way I'm back in a CL, don't have transmission woes, and my parents aren't stuck with my car payment.
BUT parting out the TL would be a bitch. I've seen how it goes in the Black Market nowadays. People with 1 or 2 posts in the last 3 years want your parts and they live in CA. So you have to pack the shit up and ship blah blah. Such a headache.
I guess my problem is that I WANT WANT WANT instead of appreciating what I have. Same problem with my camera equipment. I bought a D60, had no problems with it, and got a D3100 just because I could. I wanted a zoom lens, Santa was generous enough to bring me a 18-250, and now I want 3 more lenses. I can't be content with what I have.
I think it's because when I was growing up, I didn't have a lot. Both of my parents worked their ass off to support the family and while I had toys, my friends always had the hottest stuff, and I was jealous. I didn't get my first game system until I was in 7th or 8th grade when I did chores around the house and paid for it myself.
To make up for being the bottom feeder of all of my friends, I got a job when I was 16 and begged my parents to help me get a loan for a car. Instead of being the one at the bottom with the crappy stuff, I was the one with the nice stuff, and I loved the feeling.
Yeah, sure, maybe I'm insecure, I don't mind admitting that. No one is perfect. I guess I just need to get my shit together and be thankful for what I have. Actually I'm very thankful for what I have because I've paid for most of it myself. I guess I can't be happy with what I have. As soon as I have one thing, I move onto wanting something else. It's not a healthy habit.
/end Dr. Phil rant

Tyler, sounds like we have similar backrounds.
I was such a cheapskate with myself, until I had to hand my ex 55K for putting her name on the title of the house (back when the houses appreciated like mad, not now, obvi). That taught me a lesson, I want something, be smart, look for a deal or sell something to pay for it but GET IT. Fk that...
if you knew from day one that you weren't happy with the TL...then you can't force yourself, my friend. The TL I have now was my dream car...spent 5 long years waiting for stepdad to finish his lease and sell it to me...that said, the RSX was also an amazing car...so I often go back and forth...it was bittersweet, but at the end of the day...whatever your BRAIN tells you to believe, you will.
...to be continued, heading up to Hutshinson Island.

Im the same way. I always want the latest and greatest. I didnt have much as a kid either. My dad left when I was three, we were kicked out of the house because he stopped paying the mortgage and we had to live with my grandmother. My mom worked two jobs to support four kids. Three of the four kids (myself included) moved out and started our careers relatively early. Im fortunate for that.
I think once you get a taste for nice things, be it through your friends or if you are fortunate enough to own it yourself, you start to crave more. Its human nature.
Im not a religious person by any stretch of the imagination, but I absolutely believe in serendipity and that things happen for a reason. And no matter what you have, there will always by that new shiny gadget in the store window that grabs your attention. In my first year of working a real job I was horrible with money. If there was something I wanted, I bought it. I still have most of that shit, and in my honest opinion, it was wasted money. Ive had a few opportunities to get into a new(er) car, but as much as it hurt to do, I declined. Ive set goals for my life. Im starting small, I have a goal for the end of 2012. Then I have a goal I want to meet by the time Im 25, 30, and so on.
How much is owed on the TL, if you dont mind me asking? Also, what does the job market look like for what you are studying in school? What do you want to accomplish by the time you are 25? 30? 40? When do you want to retire? Even though it may appear as though you could save money getting a new car, but it could have huge negative financial implications 4 years from now. Who knows where the economy will be in two years.
The CL is an old car. The mounts suck. The axles are weak. The differential bearings in the tranny cant handle a whole lot of power. Parts are sometimes hard to come by. If the 105k/7yr service hasnt been done yet, it needs to be done. A new clutch can be pricey.
Ive contemplated parting out and just driving the CL stock many times. But I know deep down inside that I would hate driving a stock car. It drives me mad. The one thing that tells me you shouldnt get rid of the TL is this - you wouldve done it already if you really wanted to. Since you keep flip-flopping on it, just wait it out. Slow down or stop modding it if need be. Really think about what you want, regardless of price - and I dont mean only cars. You're young, even if it seems out of reach now, with careful planning you could get it even sooner.
My fingers hurt.

Thanks everyone for your input. I take everyone's comments and opinions seriously but I don't want to reply to each individually.
As for school, because I was a slacker my first few years, I won't have my bachelors until I'm 25. Pitiful but it's true.
By the time that happens, I hope Mitzi has a rock on her finger. By the time I'm 30 I want to own a single family home with a kid on the way. After that, who knows.
I've been doing really well with school this semester but I got fucked with my prepaid college program. My parents and I thought the program would cover tuition no matter where I went but it turns out when it's a private university, it's just a lump sum of cash. Whatever I had left in my account went towards this semester, therefore I have none left. Now I have to take out student loans to pay for housing and tuition, something I didn't think I would have to do. At $12k a semester not including rent, I'm going to be in the hole when I'm out of school.
For that reason alone I've been freaking out about money, which is why I thought about giving the TL the boot. I could sell all of my aftermarket stuff and while it won't get me too far, it would cover rent for 6 months or so. Less money that I would have to borrow and pay interest on.
I'm no longer considering getting rid of the TL. I'm going to keep it, pay it off (less than $5k to go), and just get my money's worth.
As you can tell I'm pretty bummed out about the whole situation. I just wish I would have tried harder in school.

Tyler, no need whatsoever to hang your head, my friend. You've got your plan, just execute it...all will be good.
You've got great parents, a terrific girlfriend and lots of support (me, your family and friends at home and your family here at Acurazine).

I'm no longer considering getting rid of the TL. I'm going to keep it, pay it off (less than $5k to go), and just get my money's worth.
As you can tell I'm pretty bummed out about the whole situation. I just wish I would have tried harder in school.

Ty...i agree with SB word for word....you have a plan, you got your resources...just hit the execute button....
for what i know, you got mods on your TL for a bargain....letting em go and redoing all the work will hit you financially....
to make you fell better, man you have student loan options and parents to cosign (if needed and stuff)....I came to the US with $500 in my pocket (out of which the cab fucker took $110
)....no place to stay....practically without anything....
took students loan and finished my Masters....came out with 30K worth of loans
....cudnt work on campus as they would only cover my tuition but not my rent/other bills.....4 years later paid everything off !!!!
bottom line, education doesnt go in vain.....you have to be motivated and determined....just STICK to your plan....things might not go as you want em to in the beginning but the end will be in your favor

^^^and you talk about ME responding to each post as if it were my thread!?!!?!?
Tyler, student loans are normal, man...you can pay those off over the course of 10 years. Don't get overwhelmed...change to a cheaper school, or don't sweat it. Nothing you can do about the past...if I could go back, I'd have kicked but at the high school I went to (magnet, only 125 in graduating class...could have started college in my 2nd year with all the college equivalent courses they offered). In the end, got involved with girls with kids and worked full time and failed and withdrew a LOT. I graduated in 2004 also, when I was almost 26. My boss...he's ALMOST done with his bachelor's and he's 46!
About the year and date you plan stuff, just go with the flow, nothing happens the way you predict anyway...and if it did, how boring would that be? I thought I'd have 2 kids by now...I'll be 33 next month.

^^^ you sound butt hurt bro LOL....
and i dont agree with you completely about switching to a cheaper school....I went to NYIT which is 3 times cheaper than NYU for obvious reasons....after graduating getting a job was 3 times more difficult....a friend of mine switched to NYU for his last semester and he was offered more pay from a job he got on campus plus a sign on bonus which def covered the difference and more....
wish i knew those things earlier

Not butt hurt, just thought it was pretty ironic, coming from you.
Yeah, I guess it depends on a bunch of things. Some places, you'll make more based on where you went, others, all they care about is whether or not you HAVE the diploma. In the company i work for, it can even be a major that doesn't have anything to do with the job.
Wasn't saying TO go to a cheaper school...just threw the option out there. You can get a great education from a lot of public places, rather than paying the private cost.

Yeah, my thread is full of other discussion!
Not that I mind...it's all good.
Why don't you have a progress thread, btw?!!?
Ok, BOT...Tyler...your TL is hot...pay it off...get the S2000 as your weekend car when you graduate college and are making 7 figures.

if the kids are fresh out of school then i bet 95% will pick the Stanford guy no matter how smart the public school fella is....once you have 6-8 years of work ex, the school doesnt matter as much, but for those 6-8 years it does![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
i dont have a progress thread as I dont make many updates to my car, so the thread would be ephemeral (vocab for ya asss LOL)....
and if Ty makes 7 figures, heck he should buy all his motivators a S2000 and roll around in a GTR

You guys are awesome ![Hug](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/hug.gif)
I appreciate all of the responses. Unlike most people on forums, I've met most of you in person, so that helps me visualize having this conversation one-on-one![Tomato](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tomato.gif)
I never wanted to go to a private school but now that I'm here, I love it. Small class sizes, all of the fancy new electronics in the classrooms, etc etc. We barely have 4000 undergrads here so everyone is pretty nice and it feels like a community.
Of course I'm paying the price to have these luxuries but just like when it comes to car modding, you've gotta pay to play.

Oh and if I ever make 7-figures, I won't be fighting over whether or not to keep the TL or buy a S2000. I'll be rolling in my Aventador not giving a FUCK about either one
