Bird is the Word
Just wanted to let you know I put in another factory amp and the constant buzz is gone. Put in a WTB in the black market, I had a response right away. I can finally drive my car again without going crazy!

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get it for? I've seen some on eBay for about $80 with a 2-week money back guarantee.

Bird is the Word
I paid $80 shipped for the amp. It was the going rate on ebay, but I trust the members on here more than the sellers on ebay with 200 other auctions going on. Most guys on here put in an aftermarket system and they know the condition of the amp. I asked one seller if he checked the amp to see if was giving off static and he had no clue. He just knew the amp worked, but my old one works as well.

Hmmmmmm. I may try that route but the "warranty" offered by some eBay sellers is inciting.
Thanks for giving me an update

Dude imagine dealing with that noise and then having it feeding the sound to your aftermarket amp and amplifying that noise. Spent the better part of 4 months tearing my car apart and putting it back together and buying noise shields and new wires and new rca's only to find it was the stupid oem amp creating the hiss. Bypassed it and all has been well for almost 2 years now.
They want a CRAZY amount for the oem amp, you're better off buying a small 5 channel, and upgrading the system little by little. If you buy a quality amp you can solder your own RCA leads from behind the radio and run it straight to the trunk. You'll be happy you did.
Lost the center channel, yes...unless you leave your oem amp connected and DON'T cut the center speaker wires but you'll still get hiss from that one speaker.
Ask me, I know 04 TL failures and the subsequent troubleshooting.

As much as I want to replace the stock speakers and such, I want to put that money towards other things
I'll probably go the route that PB went or just get one off of eBay. The static gets worse when it's cold outside and I hate it
In other news, I'll be hitting 124k tonight on the way to work! Hooray! That puts me at about 5000 miles for this year

^^^ Ty, I think the stock sound system is pretty awesome....
Recently I added the Clarion EQ746 equalizer and the difference in the sound is night and day....seems like the system has a little more boom, I bet the equalizer is clearing up the signal and bumping it up a little bit....and its only $55

wiring was a bish but if you plan on going that route, let me know and I will share my experiences with you/forum to make the pain easier

I would want to install that ^ but I suck at wiring and such
Yeah I love the stock sound system too but only with DVD-A and moving 44kHz to 192kHz while burning

Ohhhhhhhh. Second page of the Photograph Gallery? Gotcha
Well since you bumped it up, I guess I'll say that I've driven a whopping 68 miles since my post 5 days ago I drove around a bit down at school and then drove home for Thanksgiving break.

I love driving out by school. It's all 45 and 55 mph country roads with rarely any stop lights. Then I get back into Cary, getting stuck behind soccer moms in the left lane doing 10 under. I don't even want to drive here anymore

GAAAAAHHHHH I hate people that sit in the passing lane doing the limit or below

Sometimes it gets to the point where I don't even bother and just switch 'round them.
Tyler that's awesome, I'm right next to the border crossing so the main road is all trucks.
How often do you go home?

Usually every other weekend but sometimes I go home once a month and sometimes I go home every weekend. It all depends what's going on.
I did 35k miles just last year so I'm allowed to let the car sit this year
5k is WAY more than I thought I would be driving too.
FR-S, CL-S, and a house...not fair.
I see that white text bish. That's 1000 miles a month which is about average

Yeah, I let him out occasionally so he gets some fresh air but sometimes he tries to escape and then things go downhill... :/
