catching the sun

just a few minutes after i posted one picture thread, i looked out the window and saw a rather brilliant sunset. i hurriedly took my camera and drove to the beach (a mere 5 mins) and took these shots.

enjoy!

thanks again for looking!

yes sir, the older shot I took of my car is photoshopped (non-HDR if I remember correctly, as someone else here asked if it was a while back).

here is a comparison shot:

you are awesome at photoshopping. i liked how you got he sunset effect on the first pic, and in the second one, the TL looks so much meaner.

thanks bro!

i was tinkering around with one of the shots and tried to get more detail from the background through layering another composite, and also boosting up the car as well. making the car look like it was "put" in the existing picture

thanks!

I work mainly on curves and check my histogram as I go along. Ive been doing this for quite some time and do photography as a side job/hobby (I also do weddings and portraits, on top of cars).

I used nothing more than my everyday camera on these shots, a Canon Digital Rebel XT. I sometimes use my Canon 30D, but thats mainly for people portraits. I do shoot in RAW on all my pictures, which helps keep as much data on the file as possible, giving more latitude to correct mistakes.

O wow.. I should be on my way then. haha.. I just bought a XTi w/ 18-55mm.. whenever I p/s, i sharpen the pic, bring out more contrast and brightness(if needed) and then hue//saturation.. Dunno how to work the curves =\ ... And i wish I knew what the diff between the L and L+RAW... I heard RAW is for pro's, which i am lightyears away from being one , lol.. but your P/S skill is amazing..

I'm lovin' this. You could get paid to do this at a meet. I'd be willing, but driving from Toronto to California is just a tad too far.

Thanks. I meant Acurazine could pay you to be the official photographer for meets. that would be cool. I like photography as well, but don't really do it as much. the only photo gear I have is manufactured by Motorola.
