Yup, this car is beautiful. Seriously. I'm going to be modelling my own after it next summer for sure. Uhm... I wanted to ask, you painted the inside of the headlights black right? Do the fog lights still reflect properly? Do you have any high-res pics of the headlights that you could send me? If you could email them to me, that would be awesome... at robert@cotran.ca. Did you remove the piece above the license plate to paint it? It looks like you used a gloss black, but it's not obvious, did you? Sorry for all the questions.

You do have to remove the trim piece to paint it, it is painted a gloss black to match the window trim and rim centers. You need to remove the entire license plate/reverse light piece to get to it. It isn't that bad of a job.
The headlights are a black chrome, so the surface is approx 85% reflective compared to the std shiny chrome. If you piant it flat or even gloss black the reflectiveness goes down a whole bunch. I am using yellow fogs because that was the look I was going for, similar to the older Acura Legends or Lexus. I keep them on all the time when the headlights are on (and i am working on making them independent). If i flick them on and off, i can see the added light on the road surface. I am in Arizona and there is no real need for "fog lights", if you really are looking for the fog light effect or added lighting without your hi-beams I wouldn't do it. Most people on the forum are painting the trim ring but leaving the shiny chrome piece which actually does the reflecting unpainted.

Thanks NYFEN,
I'll think about the black chrome thing. In Canada, the "secondary" lights are actually daytime running lights, not fog lights, so their reflectivity isn't THAT crucial. And of course the Bi-Xenons are projectors so there's no worry there.
I'm just worried about removing the front bumper assembly to get the headlights off... We'll see how that goes!
Thanks for the info.

NYFEN,
I hate to be a pain in the butt, but I was wondering if you could take some close up pics of your headlights straight on. I am going to be taking apart my bumper and baking my lights next weekend and I want to decide if I will be painting the back reflective black or not. Please post some closeup headlight pics if you get a chance, it would be MUCHO appreciated. Thanks!
Rob
P.S. Did you find turn signal lights that are clear when off and orange/yellow when on?

That Look likes black vinyl, not necessarilly a gap.. If you look closely you can see that there is a a darker shade of black to the left and right, meaning it could be another piece of black vinyl like the ones he has all over teh rest of the hood

Here are a couple of pics, I don't know why but I can make the pic of the rear of the car smaller like the other pics.

I black chromed the foglight area to keep some of the reflection and I am using yellow fogs. Both of these things were done for a certain look I was going for. We don't really need fog lights here in Arizona, but you can actually see an improvement when I cycle the fog lights on because of the chrome reflection.

NYFEN,
Your TL is still the standard by which all others are measured in my opinion. I just received my Ron Jon 19" 1pf Devotions, so it's time to get them painted. Then I'll paint the RJ grills and various plastic bits on the car black. Sorry to grab some of your ideas, but your car is so hot! And besides, I'm WAY over here in Canada.
