alexb92's '06 RRP Progress Thread

Hello Acurazine... I'm Sahab and I'm 21 years old (I go by the online name Alex...), and this is my '06 RRP Base Auto TL. I bought her November '11 with my own money and the help of my parents (they cosigned the loan after my downpayment (was 19 at the time)) with 104.5k miles, and at the moment she sits right under 128k miles. Previous owner was a lady in her 50's who kept all the maintenance up to date all at the same dealership she bought it from, and traded it back in to the same dealership, which I picked her up from; therefore all the maintenance records were available. The timing belt and drive belt, water bump, tensioners, and coolant was done by the dealership before the car was put up for sale.

This is her all stock... on the third day of owning it, some fool decided to change lanes without checking his blind spot as I was slowly passing him. He put a small dent in my rear fender by bumping into me. Got that fixed up and his insurance paid 100%.

Excuse the subpar quality photos...

Next mod was some preventative maintenance (which I did throughout my ownership of the car). 2x3 ATF DW-1, 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches, transmission gear position sensor, spark plugs, new OEM break pads and rotors all around with a brake fluid flush, alignment, new Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS tires all around (the previous tires were the RE960AS which had about 50% tread; I happened to have the same tires on my previous car that I drove. I loved those tires so I chose the RE970AS because it had an even better tread pattern.)

After all the maintenance I decided to start on a few mods (which I told myself I wouldn't do... thanks Acurazine. )

First:
Base decklid spoiler:

Next... USA-Spec iPod/AUX connection, and tinted the windows 20% all around except the front windshield:

And next on the list was all around Sylvania LEDriving bulbs, for the dome lights, vanity mirror lights, trunk light, and license plate lights:

I also upgraded the reverse lights to the Sylvania SilverStar bulbs which are whiter and brighter:

I also bought a Porter Cable and some other goodies to help me detail the car!

My next plans include Domed Decalz for the front bumper and A-Spec lip kit (I'm slowly piecing the kit together as funds slowly build up...) I currently have the front lip and I'm waiting to install them, maybe tomorrow alongside with the Domed Decalz! Eventually I plan on perhaps refinishing the wheels and getting a slight drop...

Also, a expect an amateur photoshoot that I'm going to attempt, with a buddy of mine who just recently bought a NBP '05.

Thanks everyone... the next step is to purchase the A-Spec side skirts. I'm going to wait a little on the rear A-Spec lip because its discontinued in RRP, so I'll need to get it repainted. I need to jump on it and buy the sides because on acuraoemparts.com, it says they "might be discontinued"! Afterwards, I plan on getting aluminium pedals, and perhaps vinyl wrapping the wood grain interior with carbon fiber.

Been a while since I posted an update...

A-Spec side skirts and brand new OEM Type-S wheels. My 5 spoke stockies would not balance..., and for the same price I figured I'd get Type-S wheels - they flow very well with RRP and the aggressive A-Spec kit.
Next up is saving up money for the rear A-Spec... I'll have to get one repainted.

An RRP TL! Don't see much of those around. I just shot you a text, let me know if you need any modification help. Between me and the other 2 guys in Louisville, we've done quite a few things to our cars.

Lower her when spring comes around!

Finally purchased and installed the rear A-Spec lip... I'm amazed at how it completed the look. Didn't expect it to look as good! Here are a few quick pics... its extremely cold here! Proper pics soon!

Damn I love that color. It photographs amazingly.

You should consider some Type-S tails or something similar. They would really set of the rear end of your car a lot. RRP and the regular red color of the base 04-06 base tails clash too much IMO.

Just simple things like an Aspec kit just makes the car 10x better looking.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys! It was a color matched roof lip! I had ordered it from bmwoemshop on eBay. $74 shipped and it arrived in a little over a week from Taiwan. Here are some quick pictures after installation... (if anyone wants installation tips, let me know as it can be tricky) the car is dirty and its supposed to snow overnight/tomorrow, so there's really no point in washing the car. Once the weather is nice, I'll post some better pictures! Enjoy these until then...

I've ordered the Inspire fogs and I'm having a friend of mine install them for me!
But I'm facing a small dilemma and I'd like to get some opinions from a few people.
I'm on the verge of getting a 3k HID set up for the Inspire fogs, but I'm not sure what I want to do with the upper fogs. Would throwing another 3k HID kit up there alongside the Inspires be too much? (would it look stupid, too much yellow, etc.)? If so, what would you guys do? Also, will I need a harness for the upper and lower fogs? I know on some cars they aren't necessary, but are they on the TL? Thanks!

I like the roof spoiler. The guys can speak to the HID's better than I can.

How's the cut off for the upper fogs? I know it's reflector housing, so I wouldn't even put HIDs in. Maybe just run some LEDs to match your headlights and then have the lower yellow fogs

Ordered 3k HID fogs for the Inspires, and 120SMD LED's for the upper fogs, going to wire them up for DRL's! Stay tuned for results sometime soon.

Looks good should black out the head lights inside and get those tails that are red with black diffuser that I think rock star has in the black market to complete the look

Yes please do. I have accord fogs and am fine with the halogens down low, but it would be nice to have the same color output in the upper fogs as the headlights. And your base trunk spoiler looks pretty good. Might get the same for RRP as well
