350's '06 WDP progress thread

So I've had my TL almost 3 months now and done a little of this and that to it, figured I'd take a few minutes to put up a few pics.

Here's the day I picked it up at the dealer, already had clean tint on it, probably 20% but I'm not 100% sure. 87K on the odometer, overall exterior was good, spotless black interior and it smelled like cookies lol.

Less than a week later, LEDs everywhere in the interior.

First power mod, RV6 J pipe, I knew I was gonna get one before I bought the car and installed it while I still had temporary tags.

First rice mod

A few days later, roof spoiler (second rice mod lol), emblems shaved, Type S tails, smoked side markers.

CAI install

Got the Plasti Dip itch

More Plasti Dip

My next rice mod, Lambo bumper and invisible headlights

Felt like messing with the headlights

Had some downtime while the silicone set, so more Plasti Dip!

Got it back together for now

There's a few more things not pictured, but just figured I'd share a bit.

And incase anyone is wondering where the name 350 came from... I'm not an import guy I'm a Chevy guy at heart, just wanted something different for a daily driver.

I'm probably gonna get the A spec coilovers in the spring to drop it an inch, not sure if I'll do the body kit anytime soon.

Great looking car 350! Just wondering, how many cans of plasti dip did it take for all 4 wheels?

I'm thinking of doing mine once I put my winter tires on, so I'm wondering how many cans I'll need to buy

I bought 4 cans and only wound up using 3, probably 5-6 thin coats on each wheel. If my wheels were in better shape I'd probably get them powdercoated but the one has a good amount of curbage from the previous owner that I don't think it's worth it for now, I'll probably buy some Type S wheels down the road. I just cleaned them the best I could and used cut up trash bags to cover the brakes, that's the on car method dipyourcar.com recommended.

They're even with each other but not 100% sure if they're at the stock angle, they got rewelded when I removed the rear mufflers, we tried holding the tip about every which way with the bumper and the angle isn't the same on the bumper and the tip anyways. One of these days I'm planning on doing quad 3" tips, if they are off it's not enough that anyone but the most hardcore enthusiast would notice lol.

Is it just me or is that moisture in your passenger headlight?

Great progress though

Not that I see, the bottom of the lenses are a little foggy though, I need to get one of those headlight restoration kits. I would have done it when they were off the car opening them up but I needed to get everything back on the car in one day so just didn't have enough time. I'm thinking fix the fogginess, then I might get the lightest smoked LaminX I can find put on the heads and tails for protection. I don't like them blacked out with film or paint, but I think clear/light smoke protection film is a good idea.

So I forgot about this thread for a bit but I've done a few things. It's my daily so nothing big, I plan on touching the intake manifold eventually and maybe PCDs but nothing that'll affect reliability.

Sound clip

2006 Acura TL Stage 3.5 Exhaust, RV6 V3 J Pipe - YouTube

Did the navi hack, put a pic of my son playing with his keyboard, all the music I need.

Started doing minor stereo upgrades

Polk center channel

Infinity tweeters

Not pictured: Infinity Kappa 6.75" speakers in the front doors, Alpine MPR-M850 800 watt amp, 2 12" MTX Thunder 5500 subs, Dynomat Extreme in the front doors, Fatmat on the trunk lid. I didn't take pics cause I was working quick, and the trunk is nothing fancy cause I reused all the equipment from my other car that is now race only, so eventually I'll build a custom box or get something prefabbed that looks better. I have less than $200 into my stereo and it sounds a million times better than stock. Not as good as running a 4 channel but not anytime soon.

Got sick of the cheapo LEDs, went to circuit board ones.

It's a daily so yeah it got a bit salty.

Triton V3 turn signals

Upgraded my wiring. Big 3 FTW.

They came with double sided tape. I plugged them in first, and then just pushed them down where they sat flattest. The doors are 9 LED, I have 15's in the front, 12's in the rear and 24 in the trunk, the 12's looked a little too big for the doors.

Koni's installed yesterday on the lower perch with stock springs, ride is awesome, smoother and firmer. The drop isn't very noticeable but I like how the rear sits, wish the front had another half inch. I also put 20mm spacers on the rear wheels.

Not overly visible in the second pic, but also did the keyhole delete. Also not visible, did my second 2x3 with 2 qts Redline Racing and 1 qt D4, did my first 1x3 with just the Racing a month or so ago.

Slightly better shots showing the ride height now. Just enough drop to make me want spacers for the front now. Scraped the air dam coming out of the driveway this morning cause I didn't slow down. Car handles way better, if I get bored with it I'll probably swap to some H&R springs but for now the ride is awesome with stock springs and the shocks tightened everything up with the settings turned up just a little over full soft. Back seat is still out so the rear might come down a c-hair.

So I've been playing around with spacers, I moved the 20mm's I had on the rear to the front cause the front looked too sunken in after the drop, bought some 25's and put them on the rear, it rubbed when I went around the block so I took them right off. Had some time to mess with them again, did a minor fender roll with the baseball bat method and the driver side is fine now, passenger side still rubs a little, didn't yesterday, drove it again today and it rubbed which is annoying as hell. I'm probably gonna mess with it more tonight. Had the time to give it a nice wash, it's been too long.

Looks good. Most go with 15's on the front and 20's for the back.

I noticed that, just the 15mm spacers cost a lot more, the precision European ones are the same exact thing for $60 and I don't think they had a 15. I still think I'm gonna swap the 25s for some 20s, unless somebody trades them for 15s in my BM thread. I went out and rolled a little more, I have to be driving very aggressively for it to rub now, so I'd only be in the car by myself, no one should ever hear it lol.

Did the independent fog mod today, already had 4300K (looks more like 5-6000k as they're ebay cheapie bulbs) HIDs but almost never turned them on. I'm gonna leave the switch on so they act as DRLs but brighter. They're bright enough to drive around without headlights, would be perfect for street racing as the tails don't go on but the car is slow so not gonna happen. I have CBI's on the way so they should match the low beams great soon.

Fog output

Low beam output

I couldn't view the fogs by themselves before but I always suspected even though they shouldn't have HIDs in them the cutoff was lower than the low beams. Shouldn't be bugging anybody coming down the road.
