Yepp... have you seen the new Genesis? That thing is like 80% grille.

Imagine if the 4G was released now instead of then. The sales probably wouldn't have tanked so much.

Not gonna lie, the 4G is actually looking really sharp these days when parked next to newer, fancier cars.

Only thing I don't like about the 4G is the laughably bad leather. Like, WTF was up with that?

The refreshed 4GTL was proper and looked great with the A-spec kit. As for Genesis, I really like both the G70 and GV70 Sport. Unfortunately, the auto industry is pushing for such drastic designs. Small grilles as we know it are just about as dead as new manual transmission vehicles.

I remember when my buddy Brian made a molded painted 2012 grill for his 4G...along with lowering and vossen graphite wheels the car looked fkng sharp.
Always felt that way...
actually saw an Umber over Mayan 6MT last month which was the spec I wanted.

Also, Gus, next time you see some dude ask about pricing on fb marketplace with a base 6mt do NOT blow his head up
and tell him he can get 10K!
Only yours is worth 20k!

4th gen done right will look incredible. As for the tards on those pages, anything higher than $39.50 is "too much brah"

No real update on my end other than we had a decent amount of snow that fell last week. I moved the TL to clean the snow around it. Put some fuel stabilizer in the tank and let it run while I was cleaning the snow. I almost considered driving it to Massachusetts to see family, but I'm glad I didn't. Maybe this Saturday i'll take it out for a drive.

Happy new year everyone. 1st 2021 post.

I spent some time cleaning up the TL today. I couldn't get the time to set correctly, no idea why.. I applied some chemical guys wax and just looked it over. I'll need to order some fresh touch up paint. My current one is starting to dry up. My wife and I are renovating the outside of our home this year which will be a large expense. I think any work I had planned for the TL will wait til the following year. My neighbor was kind enough to allow me to leave my TL in her garage when the work on our home starts. Last thing I need is something accidentally damaging the vehicles. With one less vehicle in the driveway I can manage the other two. Snapped a few photos with my new phone (thanks wifey) before putting it back in it's spot and covering it.

Nice job! I just had my front bumper repainted, and will be putting on a clear bra in about a month. That way, I will have no more chips in my paint.

Thank you! I hear you on that. The only paint work the TL has is the front bumper. It was done 7-8 years ago and it still looks incredible. The Supra we rented was full clear protection wrapped. I'll tell you, IMO it's better than ceramic coating. You will be happy with the wrap.

Nice.

So is PPF better than ceramic coating? So many people hailing ceramic coating as the best but seems like good ol fashioned clear bra/PPF is still way to go?

Ceramic coating is the economical route and there's nothing wrong with a proper ceramic coating. PPF the entire vehicle is expensive. The Supra had a full PPF and before returning it to the owner, I had taken it to the car wash and finished with detail spray. It was unreal how easy it was to clean it. I've heard people applying a coating to the PPF which i'm almost positive the Supra had. The Supra had taken some rock chips and the PPF did a great job on saving the paint. The plastic bumper had some minor imperfections from the rock chips but the paint was not chipped.

Gotcha. Makes sense too honestly...with proper PPF you have an actual film material that protects the car instead of basically a chemical spray/coating that just applies on.

I think you're right also that you can even put ceramic coating on TOP of a PPF....now that's double protection!

There is a small area of bad clear on my hood thinking of using ppf to prevent from spreading. I find your post very interesting...

Yeah, your paint (and your entire damn car) looks brand new. I would much rather put money into making this car look nice than buying a new car.

If I were paying someone to PPF my entire car I would just have them do a high quality vinyl wrap...same labor and at least you get to enjoy a nice new look for a few years before reapplying or reverting back.
Ceramic is cool...just started using it but haven't had the desire to lock in swirls so I only use it on my wheels. So far I have done the Volvo, the S5 and the S2000's new white prodrive wheels and MAN does it make a
difference in how easily brake dust comes off.

PPF is far better than ceramic-only, but many people do go whole-hog and apply ceramic/quartz over film to make cleaning easier.

I sold a mountain bike a few years back that I had covered in frame tape. Bike garnered better-than-average money because it had a very few rock chips and looked close to new. Buyer said he was considering my bike and another one that was less expensive but much grottier. Although I know the environment of a mountain bike is different than a road car, I voted with my wallet and had much of another car PPF'd since I just can't stand rock chips.

Today is going to be a bit of an unusual scene for my TL... It's going to the dealership. It's been about 11 years since it's seen a dealer. So why is it going in for service? I'm having my ex co-worker adjust the power steering rack (Since I don't have the tool and it's cold AF to be doing this outside). While there, he will fully inspect the entire vehicle, which i'm sure nothing is needed, but you never know. I'll ask him if he knows what the deal is with not being able to correctly set the fucking time. (Thanks Acura). A bit nervous today but I know it will be in very good hands.

I mean, it's an exceptional car but still...it's your ex, and she's a co-worker...so what could go wrong?

The rack adjustment may save you a ton of money. It's a really great option to have. It didn't help my car, but I think my issue is a bad bearing that supports the pinion gear itself.

^ Probably not hot enough

I had to go to the dealership recently and did not have a good experience. Ended up having another issue that I had to fix myself. Your issue is probably more straightforward than mine though. Good luck!

I dropped off the TL and took a TLX loaner home. What a giant pile of shit that vehicle is. My co-worker texted me that he's going to bring it in soon to start looking it over and adjust the rack. I asked the service advisor if corporate is going to do anything about the navigation / clock issue, he said "probably not.."

TL is back home! So how did it go at the dealership? Exactly how I'd expect.. Lots of stiff peckers

The service advisor thought I was kidding when I told him "this isn't your normal TL.. so make sure only the technician touches my car".. When I picked up the car he's like "Dude... I thought you were kidding.. THAT THING IS FLAWLESS!" and told me "The technicians were totally impressed" My friend looked it over and said the car is in great shape, nothing is needed. He adjusted the rack and it did improve the overall steering. A lot less bump steer and on the highway it's firm now. As for the navigation / clock, there's nothing that can be done. Acura is aware of the issue and are "Trying" to figure out a solution.. Glad the TL is safely home and tucked away. I text my friend and told him thank you very much for everything, he responded with "I have a few people that are interested in buying your TL".. my response "they won't like my price, but thank you". Hopefully Acura can figure out a solution to fix the clock.

I'm glad it worked out! I'm surprised you didn't see a difference with your rack adjustment. He followed the Acura procedure I sent him. If he adjusted it a bit more I think it would be 100% I would highly recommend anyone with an original rack to have theirs adjusted (as long as everything else is in good condition)

If so, what were your symptoms prior?

The main two issues were bump steer (worse with the WORKs on) and the last time I had it out on the highway while doing 65-70 the steering wheel was super light and the slightest touch felt like the system was over assisting which made it feel unsafe. Now it's firm and doesn't feel like it's being over assisted. Bump steer is there but no where near as bad. Eventually to resolve all issues I may still need to replace the rack even though it's not leaking.

I know that feeling.... I'm still stoked it solved your issues!

While there, he will fully inspect the entire vehicle, which i'm sure nothing is needed, but you never know. I'll ask him if he knows what the deal is with not being able to correctly set the fucking time. (Thanks Acura). A bit nervous today but I know it will be in very good hands.
I'm taking my car to the dealer as well in about a month. I'll have about $2K to play with. I just had the front end painted and I'm having a clearbra installed soon, too. Your car is in immaculate shape!

It's possible you may need a new oem rack to resolve your issues. I'm sorry the adjustment didn't help you. I couldn't live with it to be honest with you.

THANK YOU very much Gatr for all the support and love! Really appreciate it brotha.

It will all be worth it once you get your car done! I can't wait to see the results! I just hope you don't become as anxious as I am with the TL.

I already was like that years ago. 3 weeks ago I got behind a stupid dump truck on I-95 (first time I've driven on the highway since the pandemic began), and I could not change lanes quickly. I had to very quickly slow down, but it wasn't in enough time. Got like 12 stone chips, and I was pissed. I was so pissed I got my entire front end painted for $350 (local hookup).
