Not sure how long it's been since you've had stock motor mounts, but can you give me an idea of the vibrations/rattles with the XLR8 62s vs stock? Thanks!

vibrations are a lil worse.... but the mounts are stiffer so you can only expect that.... when the car is at idle with the ac or heat on its noisy but other than that its all good for me

do you have the 62's or 75's? i'm putting the 62's on the wifes car and hoping there not gonna be to bad as far as vibes. she may not like it but i'm not interested in putting mounts on this car again either.

side mount is on. i did need to get longer bolts becuase i put the both original brackets back on. if i would not have reused the bracket that the original side mount attaches to my bolts would have been way to long. options for me were to not use that original bracket and get shorter bolts, or use it, place it on top of the xlr8 mount and use the longer bolts. i know that's probably difficult to picture but thats what i had to do. motor seems real smooth. havent test driven yet but it seems better allready just revving the engine. will let everyone know how it rides soon.

car does vibe and i only have the 62's and only the side mount on so far. passenger seat belt was rattling if twisted. car seems smooth as anything but vibes are noticable between 2500 and 3500 rpm. my front mount is probably bad so that comes next. my original side mount was split, had fluid all over it becuase the rubber was split, and the bearings in it? felt crunchy when rotated.

gonna get to the front soon.

Is it just me or is anyone feeling the engine getting sloppy after having the 75a mounts for 2 week? just recently my car has been jumping again. Its not as tight as the day of install. What could it be? dont feel like taking apart the mounts

^Not mine. Been about a month and atleast 1000 miles. Check the bolts that go through the bushing. Mine are all at 50 ft lbs

Maybe they are coming loose?

So how are you guys that have the mounts installed liking them so far?

This is definitely my next mod, and I am leaning towards the 75A durometer urethane to never have to think about engine mounts again. Vibrations will suck at idle for any durometer anyway, so I might as well get them very strong and durable the first time.

Anyone have an updated review of how your mounts are holding up so far? My side mount is busted and im considering trying these over OEM replacements.

Thanks

I think I have over 5k miles on xlr8 75a mounts. IMO they dont break in like IM mounts do. They are solid just as solid now as they were on day 1. Vibrations are not bad unless the a/c is on. Once you find and eliminate the in-cabin rattles, there is not much difference in the way the car idles as opposed to oem.

Its a real pleasure having NO wheel hop

Have you been able to visually inspect them yet? Did the XLR8 62A form a donut like the Innovative mounts? We would love to see pics of the XLR8 62A when you get them taken out.

Nice part Josh, good job. To show support we've added XLR8 parts to our store. It is nice to have some great parts made for the TL by a true supporter (not like the me-too shops Excelerate and Heeltoe need to compete with).

For those who have the XLR8 engine mounts installed, how are they holding up? Would you guys suggest these over OEM? Need to replace asap and first time replacing the mounts. Only 43k and front and rear mounts are dying on me. Any advice or feedback is appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

We have only had one customer say his bushings needed to be replaced. And he had the 62A, drove his vehicle hard, and he was just assuming it was the bushings. We sent him new bushings free of charge.

The engine will move less with our mounts; there will be less wheel hp, less give. I'm not sure how that will affect PCD's; if anything there is less movement causing less stress on the PCD's.

I am running them with the turbo and they seem good to me. They do increase vibrations in the cabin but makes me feel more connected to the car. It also reminds me the car is a beast hiding behind a semi-stock look. AC can be rough, but reving up to 1k RPM's fixes that.

If these behave similiar to the Innovative mounts, they should break-in after about a week. Hit the gas pedal hard (jab) as often as you can to help it along.

what i do after im done installing everything is check everything that bolts to the frame make sure that those are tight... make sure the bolts that run through the mounts are tightened down snug and hand tighten all the other bolts (to the very tightest i can by hand)that connect mounts to the engine n tranny... pull the ebrake, engage 1st a few times very lightly and engage reverse a few times lightly to bed the mounts so the engine n tranny sit properly shut the car off..... tighten it all down and be on my way. it seems to feel smoother after i do that.

Hey guys i need to upgrade mounts and unsure to go with Innovative or XLR8. I'm leaning twards the latter based on my research. I need to order soon and looking for some advice.

Also i noticed the innovative kit only comes with 3 of the 4 mounts (no front) on the XLR8 website, what's up with that? XLR8 comes with all 4 right?

I believe 3 are the engine mounts and the left mount is the tranny mount.

We designed our kit in response to the complaints about the Innovative kit. We use thicker, larger bushings in our mounts in order to eliminate the issue with the "doughnuting" of the bushings. Also both mount kits include 3 months: Front, rear and passenger.

i installed the pass side mount a while back while doing the timing belt and finally got the front mount in. It was complete toast. Engine was rocking back and forth bad. Now I just need to get the back mount done. It seems to not be an easy mount to get to. Are you all doing it from the top or from below?

Right. The rear mount is much more difficult than the other two.

The rear mount can only be pulled out from the top. There is no room on the bottom. *If* you removed the j-pipe and rear precat, there would probably be a lot of room to pull it from bottom. The perfect time to replace the rear mount is when someone was doing the PCD installation too.

My pics showing how to pull rear mount out (click here)

How are vibrations with just the front and side mounts installed? Did installing the front mount make a big difference over what you felt with just the side mount installed?

Thanks

u kinda need all the mounts installed so the engine n tranny sit correctly on the frame and work in tandem. mixing n matching will make everything work like fat sloppy ass in tights. I dont recommend it. Ive blown mounts beyond recognition (innovative and OEM) but these seem to hold up a lot longer....I know the car is a lemon and im getting rid of the aftermarket stuff on it and returning it to stock. (jumping on a 63 benz) One of the best replacement parts made by a vendor for this car are the XLR8 mounts I have to admit...the quality is amazing. Expect a blackmarket post from me soon.

I did the side mount a while back and finally got around to doing the front and rear mounts. I did the front first and the engine was still pretty smooth. Did the rear today and it vibrates like a mofo. The vibes are crazy and I only have the 62a's. Only problem I had with putting these mounts on was the longer bolt on the side mount and the top piece for the rear mount was backwards when I got it. That showed up when I tried to install the rear and the holes would not come even close to lining up.

I did notice that my lower trans mount is cracked and so I'm just gonna replace all three trans mounts since I have 95k on the car now.

Also have to replace the control arm bushings in the front too. Rubber on this car sucks including not being able to keep tires on it. Toe is always out.

Will post back when/if these things stop vibing but I doubt they will.

The intense vibs will subside during the next two weeks. Hitting the throttle hard when accelerating from a stop will help to loosen-up the stiffness.
