XLR8 Exhaust and J-Pipe Pics, Dynos, Sound and Video Clips!!

I know there is a bunch of scattered pics, dynos, sound and video clips on this forum so post up the links please. Let's make this a compilation thread. Here's a bunch I have:

Base TL Exhaust

TL-S Axlebacks

TL-S Dyno

Peak HP showed a gain of 10whp and 8 ft lbs of tq but look at the torque/hp curve around 3-4k. At around 3500 there is about a 20whp and 30 ft lbs of tq gain

[/QUOTE]

http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j8...t=Shop2035.flv

http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j8...t=Shop2039.flv

http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j8...Shop2038-1.flv

Here are the dyno #'s:

This is dyno graph a few months before showing the difference on the vehicle with the XLR8 catback exhaust for the TL-S:

This is the dyno graph showing the gains of the j-pipe. Dyno conditions were similar; in fact there was more humidity and a higher temp on this day so it might even make more power:

Peak gains were 7 whp and 16 ft lbs of tq to the wheels but this car was making tons of torque down low.

Here's a video of the dyno and the car pulling away at WOT:

And some more pics I took:

Josh- quick question- do the pipes come this polished on the base TL? I noticed that the TL-S pipes aren't as shiny. I prefer the polished.

The pipes are 100% stainless steel and have a natural finish. The mufflers and tips though are the only polished parts on the exhaust though. That first single tip base TL exhaust was a prototype.

^^^ just on a side note....by shifting at 6500-6700 rpm you are actually losing power....the TL-S dyno shows that it has its peak HP at 6250 rpm....so after the 6250 rpm mark your HP are not going up but going down....

you would get better timing if you shift at or around 6200 rpm.... my

the video's are off the hook thow

The reason you go just past the peak is because the next shift will throw you back into your power band. If you shift in peak you will be slower.

Here this is what I meant:

1> If you shift at 6200 rpm.....by the time the car shift you will be at 6300-6400 rpm....(so you went a little over peak)....this will bring you right back in the power band.....

2> If you shift at 6400 rpm (you have lost a little power already)....by the time the car shifts you are at 6500-6600 rpm (damn lost more power).....this shift puts you perfectly in the power band as well....

now at shift points 6300 and 6600 the TL-S dyno graph says you already lost 6-8 whp.....(so its like a TL-S rolling without an cold air intake would stand a chance against a TL-s rolling with a cold air intake)

Here is the TL-S dyno chart posted by XLR8 himself in the first post....(sorry am using the same pic XLR8)

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere else, so I apologize up front for being ''that poster'' on a thread. Was there a difference in hp from resonated to non resonated for the TL Base? If I were to order the non-res and decide I wanted resonated, can it be easily swapped and what would it cost me?

thanks

ps - are you planning on doing any ''race pipe'' like ATLP has made - to eliminate that last cat?

The difference in hp is going to be maybe 1 HP between resonated and non-resonated. You would have to weld in a resonator if you wanted one.

Yes we are working on an XLR8 Test Pipe and High Flow Cat for the third cat. We also have the Random Tech high flow 300 cell third cats.

Similar hp/tq gains, different style mufflers and tips, similar aggressive exhaust note. However, the ATLP quad tip has been discontinued as far as I understand.

Ok so I got the xlr8 j pipe n quad for my type s i have it on with a stock cat because I am waiting for my 3rd cat delete and i feel like its much slower at low rpms then it was like it doesnt move like it used to. Also I hear or feel rather a really deeeeeeep basee like louder then my subs when im driving in say 5th(sport shift) or even just in auto when at 2k rpm !! now is that normal ? did I do somethng wrong, will this get fixed with the cat delete like im kind of confused im satisfied with the sound to the fullest extent but I hate the bass like HATE how much base there is unless i really give it some gas i hear such loud base at 2 rpm . Just wondering if somebody can pitch in some advice or words ? Thanks

Drone. Thats what you're hearing (or sometimes feeling). As the exhaust breaks in, it won't be as bad.

Did you disconnect your battery for a few minutes before you went for a drive with the new parts?

ooops nope. Was i suposed to ? .. so the really deep base is drone ? i thought drone was when you let go of the gas the rpm slowly dropping. I mean thise base is reallly deep like deeper then my subs my whole car like rattles lol .. sorry this is my first exhaust so consider me a newbie

Yes the base sound is drone. I personally dont mind it one bit. It reminds me what i payed so much money for I have no clue how you wouldnt notice a hella of a lot more power after the jpipe and catback install. It would be almost impossibly not to "feel" the gains.

You are so focused on the Drone, that you really aren't noticing the performance gains.

Quick question guys...I'm sure this has been asked before. What's the difference (if any) between the res & non-res xlr8 base exhaust? Any difference in tone? I know a post earlier said the res makes 1 hp more or something like that. If one is a little quieter, I'd like to find out. Thinking about doing this down the road. Thanks.

^the non-res will be slightly louder and have maybe 1-2 more hp. the resonated version has a resonator cone in the middle instead of a straight pipe all the way through.
