Would this be buildable in 3G TL?

It a 03-04 j35a5 (03-04 mdx block) with cls pistons for sale. It is brand new, 0 miles, never been started block. Would this be worth building out with TL parts for the 05 TL? Or would this just be a pain in the butt!

i believe that particular block will fit a 3G TL. someone correct me if i'm wrong, PM 'thinjim' he will know for sure. IMO, i just got done breaking in my 3.5 motor in my CL-S and the torque gains are well worth the money.

funny thing, I was wondering about that swap as well... I was actually going to swap that CL-S with the 3.5 block and the 6sp tranny into a 6thGen Accord, but decided to go TL status instead...would having that 3.5L Block solve the whole head problem for adding say a turbo? That would rock to have that turbo'd 3.5 CL-S like I saw before on another site...

not necessarily
04+ TL
05+ RL
03+ MDX
i believe all those parts are interchangeable, anything from the CL-S/TL-S and 01-02 MDX have slightly longer cranks, cams, etc.

I did some checking for you guys. The only way I have to check is to compare some OEM part numbers. Additionally, I have seen the 03-04 MDX block and the rear of the block is different from that of the basic CL block, the tranny won't match. Here is the breakdown of part numbers. These were found at http://www.acuraparts247.com.

03-04 MDX block part number 11000-RDJ-A00

04-05 TL block part number 11000-RDA-810 this number is the same for both the auto tranny and 6 speed model.

One place you may be able to determine and actually see a block is an acura dealer. I'd bet there is a block laying around that has been removed and you could take a picture of the backside of it and send it to me or post here. If the dealership I visit wasn't so far away, I'd go there and make a quick comparison. The TL's apparently are prone to hydro-lock and this dealership has many blocks laying around that are worthless.

My honest guess at this point is that it won't work with your tranny, but the only way for sure is to see the backside of a TL block.

I honestly wouldn't buy it till your 100% sure.

Thanks for the advise! I will check into it further; the guy is down to $500 plus freight on the block though....so I wanted to be sure! Sounds like I need to do some serious reasearch before I get into this one!

yea, i almost regret not going the 3.7 myself, but it would have been a custom stroker/bore, and i liked the reliability of the 3.5... regardless, stroking this motor puts a smile on my face everyday. and i only went from 3.2 to 3.5, imagine jumping up .5 L , yum.

However, with the lack of tuning options for the TL, would we get into trouble after doing the swap?
