Don't mean to crap on this thread, but anyone with a 2nd gen CL should know that this block will not bolt up to our transmissions. If the seller would post a pic of the back of the block where the tranny bolts up, I can confirm this. Also, this block has the kidney shaped oil return holes on the deck, this is also different than the 01-03 cls block and 01-02 mdx block which are the same honda part number.

mdx block should bolt up, except for a bracket on the pulley sides. maybe you mean the 6speed jim? otherwise, the 5AT should bolt up.

and yes, the oil feeds are diff, and it is slightly thicker/heavier. but should still bolt up. PM typeR.

No, it won't bolt up to this block that is for sale, the pattern is different on the 03-04 block. The transmissions on the 2nd gen CL have the same bolt pattern regardless of auto or manual.

sorry, you're right, 01-02 mdx block will bolt up. not the 03-04.

I think I was confused bc the 03-04 ODYSSEY block bolts up. Ah, I'm confused, sorry for the messy thread.

Here go my ratings on . MY name over here changed because of the fact that "PCH" was already taken by another member if I can remember correctly. Also, here go my ebay transaction. Which isn't a lot. Story on the block....I originally purchased this block back in Aug. or Sept. (can't remember) of 05 from 02AV6. I had the mechanic install the cl type s pistons on in this block.

And yes, thinjim is correct about this block having a different bolt patter for the transmission. I learned the hard way when I was doing my swap . Now, I put this up for sale here because I am a registered member. Now, I am glad thinjim brong up that point about the tranny, but I would of discussed that with any potential buyer before purchasing it. But you can always get a special bracket/plate made for the tranny to fit. It is not that much money to get one made. Just have to know the right people. In my case, my mechanic spent my money on other people's project, so was not able to get it made.

Also, the new TL guys can use this block but a custom tranny plate MUST fabricated. Or come up with another solution. I believe the inner housing can be swapped also from the mdx/pilot tranny over to a tl/cl/accord tranny.

The links you gave and references to the site have been removed by a computer generated filter, since the management does not allow links to that site.

Yes, a plate could be made, but I don't think would work as it would throw off the motor mounts, tranny mounts, and cause the axels to be shorter on one side and longer on the other and other unforeseen problems. But it could be done. Sorry to hear of your misfortune as it's an expensive one. You might be better off taking the internals out of that block and putting them into a regular cls block and take the loss on the rest.

Yes, that can happen if don't mill down the tranny housing to the size of the thickness of the plate. Also, thought about that, but not sure if my heads will bolt up to the cl's block. Was thinking a new tl block, with these 3.5 internals but need money. I believe this is a decent price on this block, considering new it cost a little more. I believe 2000 grand plus shipping and then you will still have to buy cls pistons or rl pistons and rings. That alone can be about 300 and up depending on which ones you go. Then pay for someone to break down the block and install the new pistons.

I've always been curious...which crank was installed into this block? If you don't know, take a pic of the front of the motor and post it up.

So would it work with the 3rd Gen TL? Could I use the internal for the 3.5L swap? Or could I use the complete block?

Time for the DREMEL???

Sorry, I couldn't help it with all of the fabrication that would be needed for this...
Maybe ebay would be the way to go... I'm sure there are plenty of house wives out there who forgot to put oil in their MDX's...

Yes direct fit on 3rd gen TL AUTO and yes this complete engine block. It's a great deal with CL-S pistons and it was done to fit valves since MDX pistons valve relieves are smaller. Also, you'll get even a less compression 10.5:1 vs. 11.0 (TL), so you might safely run supercharger if you want. If not can make NA a torque monster with bolt-ons. If I had an auto TL I'd jump into this deal .

exactly....already cheap at this price. I mean, what do u have to loose? $$$...u Tl guys are loaded ....Maybe I should try to sale for $3000 and then have people try to negotiate with me for a lower price. it's weird, u offer something at a high price, people negotiate, u offer something cheap...and nothing

I am intersted in it. However I need to make sure everything will work with my 3rd Gen TL. Where could I find more info about this?

So would this just be a direct swap into the 3rd Gen TL and bolts up to the automatic tranny without any modification?
