When is an AEM sort ram intake coming out

I have been wanting to get a short ram intake for my car. I wanted to get an AEM one and they say for the past year it will be out soon. The only one I can find is a Weapon R. So I am looking to see if anyone knows when another brand short ram will be out for an 05 TL.

Well, some people like the sound of the intake and are not as concerned with performance gains

just make yourself a custom pipe, or get one from pep boys with a K&N filter. Same thing.

I think they sell a Short ram on ebay(no brand) than just put a K&N or HKS Filter on it or just cut factory air box and put a filter on it but why dont just get a CAI? sound, power & Look are nicer than the SRI just IMO.

I do not want to run into any problems with the cold air intake. I know it is very unlikly but with my luck I will be the one person.

Thats what I thought too....but its no big deal at all unless you drive through MAJOR standing water up past your bumper more or less. Heck...I am runnng a CAI on a supercharger now....so you know it is doing some major sucking....and it has never been a problem. Even driven in driving rain...no big deal. I would consider it anyway if I were you.

short ram is pointless in comparison to the CAI. there are no problems using the intake unless you plan on using the TL as a amphibious vehicle. seriously, this mod is so simple and benign. Dont concern yourself with a short ram.

out of curiosity, how high is the ground clearance of the filter on a CAI in the TL? all i see are "above the bumper" but where exactly does the water pose a threat of hydrolock relative to the bumper? 8 inches? 12? just wondering. thanks.

In my car (2gen TL-P), I think the filter begins at maybe like 12-16 inches off the ground and then the actual pipe itself is even higher... Honestly, when are you EVER going to drive through 2 feet of standing water? You live in Jersy, which isn't hurricane country, and even when it is that one time every 10 or so years, I don't think I've seen that much standing water on the road and you would have to be a complete idiot to drive through a puddle that deep

the CAI is basically a extended short ram. the way the TL is, the CAI is really not as long as most CAI for other cars. the filter sits about parallel to the wheel hub and extends to the top of the wheel. So, thats plenty of standing water clearance.

Thanks for the replies guys. That answers my question pretty clearly. Ive always been skeptical with CAIs, even though my previous cars never really used one (Evo, Evo MR, 3000GT). I drive cautiously enough when it rains here, and just needed to know what was the gap between the filter and the ground.
