Ditto I did I think it was 160 on my GSXR not sure how accurate that is because I had a sprocket kit on the bike.. I about shitted my pants when I looked at the speedo and yes I never did it again.

I think the fastest I got my TL to go was somewhere around the neighborhood of 125-130 when I raced a S2000 but that was the only time I pushed my car above 100. Most of it is a race from 0-100

Dont know if those rev speed limiters for jdm limiters work but they should. There are a few systems out there.

No way the dealer would remove it - in a word: "Liability".

It's probably coded into the ECU (and elsewhere?) someplace. Probably not easy to remove/change. Car mags say "electronically limited".

+1

from what i've read from personal experiences in this thread so far it seems like the 5at type-s models are being limited to around 130

from my own experience, i have a 07 base 5at and in ss i hit 120+ in 4th with ease but let off because my turn was coming up, and i dont believe they'd put in a 5th gear in ss for only an extra 10mph and then cut it off.

the salesman who sold me my car said that the car will get up to around 148 and just wont go any faster. i'm not sure if he meant that there was a gov. limiter on it or that the car is pushed as fast as it can go at that point.

I've hit 162 in 5th gear redlining 7250rpms. Shifted to 6th, it would have taken one full minute to get one more mph, so it just started feeling wrong to keep the car pinned. Drag limited (on my car anyway) to about 160~ Also, car is highly unstable at this speed. Slight bend (barely noticeable) in the freeway had my cars ass-end trying to hop in front of me. SCARY AS ALL HELL-

you guys are crazy lol. the fastest ive gone was 120, and that was only because i was driving home from canada (to NJ) and i had 4 hours ahead and 350 miles to go. the highway was COMPLETELY empty. i was literally the only car for about 2 hours of driving.

but the limiter on the 5AT type S is 133MPH.

7250RPM? Huh

Back to topic. I hit 133 the other day, felt smooth as ever.

I took my buddies up to 120Mph. They didn't think we were going that fast and couldn't believe the car was driving so smooth.

I doubt it was 7250 RPM since honda gauges are known to be off by 200 rpm at the max point, maybe it was 6800-7000. The TL is drag limited really to 160 according to the people that have gotten that high, but the thing is that you will run out of gears and RPM range by the time you hit 155-160. Also 160 in any car is going to be scary if it wasn't built for it, I mean with the wind noise going 80, imagine going double that!

Either way, speeds that high are very dangerous and should only be attempted at the track or on a dyno, or on the autobahn. Don't be dumb and endanger the lives of innocent people.

I wish I'd felt compelled to "never do it again". I always had to top out any bike I rode once I found a suitable empty stretch of four lane highway. I've seen the high side of 180 and that's why I gave up sportbikes. Way too much temptation, but it sure is a rush.

iono...i doubt it would actually hit that 155 mark; before i wised up a bit.... everytime i drove from St. Louis to Chicago i'd punch it real hard, esp during those long stretches of road to no where....and the most i ever could squeeze out of the A/T was about 152-ish.....

but by then tapping on the breaks and bumps in the road, even some small winds all became strong factors to be aware of.

for sure the TL hits 140 and hits it strong, but who cares? ppl who really "street" race are looking for that 0-100 push;

it's the main reason i'm even considering trading in my current daily (E92) and grab the 335d, the torque on the diesel is ridiculous, that's what's really fun, (at least for me); flying around at 120+ is just asking for it..believe me i almost had to do 28 days in jail plus 42 hours of community service and pay a $900 fine for it; (distorted reality and fulani can vouch for me rofl)

Alright. Lets see some pictures .. or better yet .. a video of you doing 162mph @ 7250RPM.

Update, I hit 141 last night .. I am pretty confident I won't be going that fast for awhile.

Wow and I thought I was crazy for getting up to 95mph in my TL once. I normally keep it under 80 in the car. Anything over that, the gas mileage suffers. I use my bike for when I want to go fast.

yeah, i couldn't agree more. i remember back in the day when i first started driving...totally thought i was the shit! driving fast, acting retarded...looking back, although it's only been 3 years since, it was worthless. i hit 140 a long ways back in mine, and BOY was it a scary feeling. oh, and i got pulled over lesson learned. unfortunately, i'm one of those "have to learn from my mistakes" kids...needless to say, i've never again done it!

That's odd.

By all reports the TL-S Auto ('07 & '08) are limited at ~132 - 135. Some speedo error perhaps.

Didn't mean you did not see 140 on the speedo.

What I mean to say is that at that speed, if the speedo is off a little, the indicated speed might be slightly over-stated or under-stated.

I drive to work over twenty miles away and most of the time I"m goin over 100. feels pretty safe and you can drive 120 steadily in some parts of kansas if you have a radar detector. not scary at all, but suspension could be stiffer for those speeds

I drive an 08 TL type S 5AT and I've tried at least 3 times to push the car to its fastest possible. The car WILL not go further than ~ 133 MPH. The conditions were pretty optimal too. No one on the road early morning around 4am. I stayed at 133 for about 20 seconds too trying my best to get it go further but it just wouldn't bunge. I remember the 3rd time I did there was a small curve in the highway and I was doing about 130 and I almost pissed my pants. However, even at speeds of 110-125 the car feels pretty grounded and natural... it is a sports car after all with all the sport tuned suspension etc.

Imagine driving a lambo or something similar... those are cars are build to drive normally at 120 as most cars are at 50 lol.
