What are pulleys??

I keep hearing about crank pulleys or underbody pulleys??? What's the difference??? And is it worth buying if I have an automatic?? If so, which one am I suppose to buy? I heard one is for supercharged cars and the other isn't???

Also, here's the mods I have so far...

-AEM CAI
-Magnaflows
-E Shift Pro Cats coming soon
-CT Rear sway bar

Thanks for the help!!!

Note to the Mods: I searched and all I get are articles with the word pulley in them, but there seems to be none that answers my question. Hopefully someone can redirect me to a thread or maybe someone might answer my question. SO PLEASE DO NOT CLOSE THIS THREAD!! thanks!

Look under TL,choose between the complete set or just the crank pulley itself.

You have 4 main pulleys on your car: crank, alternator, power steering, A/C. Each pulley spins its accessory. The crank pulley spins the accessories b/c it is being spun by the crankshaft. The pulley you are hearing about is the Unorthodox Racing crank pulley. The UR crank pulley is lighter weight (1lb vs 13lbs - OEM) and slightly underdrives the accessories.

If you need more info go here: http://unorthodoxracing.com/

Then go to Information and then FAQ and then choose pulleys in the pull down list.

2) "What is underdriving/underdrive"
Underdriving/underdrive is slowing the speed of the accessories, or the driven component, from their original factory speed. Underdriving can be done in two ways. First is by increasing the diameter of the accessory pulley/s. The problem with this method is it increases the size of the accessory pulley/s which increases their weight. Weight reduction is the most important key to increasing engine performance and response. This method also eliminates the ability to underdrive the a/c, which is a tremendous robber of horsepower. The second, which we use, is reducing the diameter of the crank pulley. This allows us to achieve the best ratio of underdriving, and most importantly maximizes the reduction of weight on the crankshaft. This reduction in weight reduces the moment of inertia allowing your engine to respond faster to throttle inputs and perform better at all RPM's. This method also allows underdriving of the a/c we can maximize the performance of our kits by not leaving any accessories to rob precious horsepower from your engine.

I took this right off the link excelerate provided........read first ask later.........they have a great FAQ section.

^^^^ so that is saying that the pulleys will change how the air conditioning works, how does it change the air conditioning?

does it also effect other things, for example the stereo? if so, how does it effect these other things?

well the stereo is affected because you can't power a big amp anymore.I think the limit is 600watt.
